Everybody Feels

Description
I've had a dry spot for a while, but trust a tragedy to get the inspiration flowing. The Death of Michael Jackson, brought home to me something I'd thought about before. Whenever there's a tragedy, shootings or unexpected famous deaths, the people rally round and the love that goes out to them and those who are left is like a huge comforting blanket. It always makes me wonder if these sad events happen to bring people out of there own little personal worlds, which they take for granted, so that they can see how deeply they really do care for others when push comes to shove. These events really do bring out the best in most people (I said most.... not all ).
Well this song came as a result of my musing over these things and isn't a commentary on MJ alone, but on all such sad occurrences.

Lyrics
Everybody Feels

Have you noticed how when something tragic happens, a warming tide of love comes sweeping in?
So much feeling and compassion people send,
It’s sometimes very hard to comprehend.

Maybe that’s the way we bring attention, to the things deserving of our love,
Sacrifice will always make our tears burn,
It’s a way to show each other what we’ve learned.

Chorus.
Everybody feels when someone suffers,
Everybody knows just what it’s like,
Something is instilled in Human nature,
And it pulls the heart strings when somebody cries.

Everyday we go about our business, never thinking that tragedy might strike,
Most times, and to most of all the people that we know,
Life goes on and sadness doesn’t show.

Repeat Chorus

When the TV Newscast tells us that someone’s been hurt, or that someone we all know has passed away,
Something happens deep inside so personal it hurts,
And the surge of Love goes flowing on its way.

Repeat Chorus.

So much feeling and compassion people send,
It’s something very hard to comprehend,
But something happens deep inside so personal it hurts,
And the surge of Love goes flowing on it’s way….. on its way….. on it’s way.

I have thought that at times myself. This is a well written song. You coverd your thoughts well in a few short minuits. And the vox, no question it's you. Your voice is so rich, you never miss. Great track Maurice, Thanks.

Hi Vic
Thanks a lot for the listen and comment. The bass is there, but I kept getting a 'boom' and had to take it down quite a bit.... seemed to pick up on the electric piano bass notes. I tried different bass' and ended up with orchestra bass... though as you say it is light., cheers M

On the money...
Maurice,
You have a real gift for expressing a thought with very precise language. This is no exception. ... and your music is the perfect complement. There's a bit of (now I know what it is!) Don Ho in your work and it's always familiar and comfortable. I always go away from your music feeling like I've somehow been comforted and soothed. The sincerity in your writing and your presentation are not something that can be manufactured. It's you! ... (I agree with Vic on need for more bass...and also that your bring your own vocal up-front even further.)
Peace.
Paul

Paul,
It's very flattering indeed that a real musician comments so favourably on my songs and performance..... I'm really pleased with your comments and the fact that you find my songs soothing. Regarding the bass; I revisited my GB version and discovered that the keyboard button must have been 'down. an octave and that was why some notes were inaudible (so low) and others boomed, so that I turned bass lower and lower. I've since corrected the mix, but hesitate to repost after people have begun commenting. The new mix though is much fuller and better.
I hadn't heard of Don Ho, but after a quick You-Tube listen, I know what you mean. Thanks again for your very welcome support Paul, regards M

Relating to the Common Thread...
that runs through decent people everywhere, is the expansive topic this song explores.

Nicely done, Maurice and nice of you to notice what so many of us often overlook. ;)

Nice song.
It is your vocal that carries the emotion. I hear Don Ho mostly because of the background music and the sweet way you sing it. Post version two and we'll come by and listen again. Thanks.

everybody feels
you have a magical ability to convey genuine emotion through your music - in your vocal performance especially. And I love the vibrato in your voice. MJ was a great artist who touched so many lives. With his life he gave us the gift of music; with his passing, the gift of inspiration.

Thank you, Maurice, for sharing your inspired work with us.

Very much
appreciated words Sigmund and I do agree with what you say about MJ. When he was very young I always knew that he was some kind of prodigy with the emotion he displayed vocally for someone so young and I used to wonder what he would be like as an adult performer. Well now we know. I can't think of anyone who'll replace him at the moment. Again, thank you for your kind words, regards M

Well written and emotional. I saw the bass issue was brought up before. You could maybe use a limiter to cure the bass problem.

Anyway, I think you did a really nice job.

Fascinating tune
You seem to have combined gospel and music hall. Unprecedented! My deepest bow, Maurice. And it's true; tragedy is something common to us all and can bring out empathy, which is WAY stronger than sympathy.
