Description
I haven't posted for a while so I figured I'd get this one out there. I was going to remix it but don't really have the time right now. It sounds pretty good as-is though. I've got a few of these harder songs I need to post.
Enjoy the noise.

Lyrics
Face the World

Well I’m standing above and I see everyone below
Doesn’t even feel real to me
How can I live with this, It’s too much power for one man
Conscious torn can’t you see

And you don’t even know my name
I must get out of here somehow
I’m stuck between both right and wrong
How can I face this world now?

The fire burns and covers the hillside
With a force of planets colliding
Nothing left of what once stood before me
And there’s no use in me hiding

And you don’t even know my name
I must get out of here somehow
My conscience screaming what can I do
How can I face this world now?

And you don’t even know my name
I must get out of here somehow
My conscience screaming what can I do
How can I face this world now?

man on the mountain
Nick, this is hot and heavy.

i don't know if you could improve the mix. seems pretty damn good to me. the guitars have a excellent crunch and are tight. I also dug the vocals and the bass with the mid boost is powerful.

excellent rocker!

thanks
I always love to push that midtone on the bass - gives it an interesting sound. This pushed my vocal comfort zone a little. The guitar sound is my homemade method of an octave pedal. I sold mine a while back.

Great Drive
Sounds fine in my ears. Vocals are right on and the leads smooth and melodic. Killer track. Thanks and thanks for letting me take it with me.

For your 4th of July post, and I'm exploring your earlier work also. Nothing like some fresh tunes for the road!

The thing I am struck with on this tune are the guitars. They are incredibly tight and the tone has this, how should I describe it? Kind of synth-y buzz-saw sound to them. Like a super fast vibration- almost not even amp-like. Anyway. it's very cool and totally fits the song. You might try a little distortion on the vocals actually, to dirty them up a bit. Might be a nice counterpoint to the tight guitars, something a little messy. Just an idea. Killer track as always.

guitars
Thanks Phil. Yeah the guitars are a little weird. Each channel is on 2 tracks, one normal and the other dropped an Octave or so. I sold my Octave pedal a while ago when I thought I was done writing songs - how wrong I was. I need to get another one, the sounds I could get were great. This is my attempt at recreating the sound. The vocals could probably use a little distortion - everytime I try to add some to the vocals it comes out sounding a little odd. More practice maybe.

Thanks,

Great guitar sound at the beginning.
Sort of Stone temple pilots feel to it..meet janes addiction.
maybe a toucj of echo on the vocals to give them a bit space but apart from that a great mix
Great stuff
Cheers

Stone Temple and Janes - both awesome bands so I can't complain on the comparisons. As I always say vocals are my weak spot - getting better though.
Thanks Brendan.

Enjoy the noise indeed
great guitar tone and some really tight playing. Ditto what Racerat said I guess - I could also hear a distorted vocal sound with this - but the performance is all there.

Distortion
I'll have to give the distorted vocals a shot and see how it sounds. I used to add distortion to all my vocals years ago in order to hide the imperfections in my voice. I don't feel I need it for that reason now but I would just be cool for this song.
Thanks Bud.

awesome
nice and heavy. really like that riff. reminds me a little of RATM's 'calm like a bomb', and that's my favorite rage tune so you get points for that. besides that though a classic NF tune with all the fixins. Great job

calm like a bomb
That's funny, that song played on my ipod while shuffling a while back and my wife immediately changed the song (not a Rage fan) - I just said "You can't switch songs, that track is perfection!" That is a great song. Yeah I put vocals on this a while back for RPM2009 and figured I'd get it posted here.

Driving music
If I was in my car, I would be pushing the accelerator. Great groove. Lots of punch ("Oooh"). Top guitar sounds. I wish I could make that sound. How did you do your drums? Bass sounds great. Sounds like a lot of work went into this.

drums
the drums are actually all Drums on Demand (with a little tweaking here and there). I've had this one on hold for a while, just recently added vocals and decided to post.
Thanks for the awesome comments man.

man perfect guitar sound. and bass is sweet too. i like the vox as is - distorted vox are too easy - you nailed it imo - cool indie inflection, playing it straight with just a bit of edge. cool. directly to the ipod dude.

face it
yeah vocals are definitely harder without distortion, you can't hide as easy. That was my take with these newer songs and it worked okay. Thanks for listening and downloading, very cool.

Thanks cool, I never really caught the driving music sound until you guys mentioned it. The extra time I've had for music lately is coming to an end soon, too bad, it was fun.
Thanks Len.

Face the world...and get melted. Great tune, tight recording. I like your vocals the way they are..sounds good. How did you record the drums..they sound great. Guitar and bass combo definitely a Rage vibe...excellent production.

Rage vibe
It's definitely a small rip off from Rage. I was listening to Rage and Clutch at the time I wrote it. Buying Drums on Demand was the best thing I did to propel my songwriting - Drums were always the biggest hold back for me before that. (Volume 3: Upbeat & Aggressive) check it out if you get a chance.
Thanks for listening man.

dude; can't believe you did this with GB. pretty impressive. everything sounds great. really nice vocal sound too. reminds me in a way of a band called quicksand from the 90's. they were like a more pop version of Helmet. great track.

Quicksand is still today one of my favorite bands - Slip is an amazing album. When I was my punk band the writing was likened to them a little. Thanks for stopping by to check this track out - I may be going on another MacJams sabbatical soon.

nice
As you know it is just a bit more "thin" than some of your other recent posts, a little more airy. But as other said it's harder to nail it that way and you did a great job. The thinner sound is just a little more aged, like rock from the late 80's or early 90's rather than the late 90's or 00's sound, which is thicker and more compressed. Also I get less deep bass on this one which is more late 80's. Thinking about it like that and it comes out great. Actually kind of reminds me of a little known late 80's bad called Sea Hags.

I've been moving way too much in the last few years and somehow eventually ended up in Texas. Funny how things work as I never saw myself here. I've been playing music in some fashion or another since I was 16 and love it. Its been great listening... [see more]
