As usual I don't really know what genre this aught to be except just "rock".
I have been avoiding posting another song from the back-catalog, because I wanted to work on some potential collabs here and I wanted to focus my limited time on those things, but a couple of my "fans" (you know who you are...) were asking and so it is a sheer pleasure to appease. Hopefully I can get through my summer jobs soon and get back on the music!
This song has a long history, originally I recorded a version on my 4 track, I believe the year was 1998. I think copied it to a regular cassette and showed it to a couple people, but ended up losing that. I also couldn't find the 4-track master. After accusing my mother of stealing it, and after she refused that she did it for many days (I may never be sure... my mother doesn't like music, especially rock, and he has always hated me doing it), I gave up on it. But I liked the song... so I tried to recreate it, I couldn't remember the chords but I did have the words so I did my best. The first version actually had a lot of piano on it, which is rare for me since I don't even know how to play piano. But I couldn't remember anything about that so the second version was only guitar. I wanted desperately to reproduce the original but it was gone and the second version was quite a bit different. As I worked on it, the timing seemed to change and went from 4/4 to more of a 6/8 (I think). I recorded a 3rd version of this using an open snare and my hybrid setup with my DM5 providing the kick, which I linked to a seriously RAP sounding BOOM bass. For the toms I went with a congo-like set on the DM5. The snare was my actual snare I believe but with the snare off. This version had a real island/reggae/rap feel to it. I may post that version for comparison. As I began working on One Man Screaming this song was a definite pick for source material, but I really wanted to rewrite the acoustic rhythm guitar lines again as I was pretty sure the first version used different chords and I wanted to try to bring them back. So I did, and the chords are completely different ones on this, the final and 4th version (they may be more like the first I have no idea anymore). Also, I went for a more traditional rock drum kit, all live drums, and other equipment likewise to be cohesive with the rest of One Man Screaming.
My one complaint is about the drum intro, in the 3rd version it sounded very loose and had a keen flow. This version feels a bit rushed. I intentionally increased the tempo a little bit but I don't think that is the only reason. Somehow my concept changed. But once past the intro everything flows nicely. I don't mind it being abrupt but it is just slightly too abrupt. Anyway, as always I consider it a human creation, it is not necessary to be perfect. It should be HUMAN. I really do like the ebb and flow of this one.
Hope you like it too and it's always nice to hear from you.

Lyrics
it's hard to imagine and it's hard to control
the long moonlight talks and the afternoon strolls
all of the innocence and love in your eyes
together in everything and i realized that
YOU AND I HAD FINALLY FOUND OUR HOME
NOW THAT I'VE FOUND THE ONE I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO ALONE
i walked with you there in our time
i ran my hands through your hair and held your hand in mine
i wedded you there in the moonlight
bound together with dreams and leave the world behind so
YOU AND I COULD FINALLY FIND OUR HOME
NOW THAT I'VE FOUND THE ONE I HAVE NEVER FELT SO ALONE
i love you girl and each day that goes by
i think of the love that we both lost and i cry
wherever you go girl and whatever you do
i'd like you to know that in my dreams I STILL WALK WITH YOU
the long moonlight talks and the afternoon strolls
all of the innocence and love in your eyes
together in everything and i realized that
YOU AND I HAD FINALLY FOUND OUR HOME
