Description
So ... we were trawling the Luna archives and I took a shine to this song which Daniel wrote in about 1993. I recorded a quick live version of the vocal, accompanying myself on my Strat ... and when Daniel got hold of it he blended it with some live recordings of his own.

There is a certain rawness to this, but it is what it is - a composite of one-take wonders and improvised instrumental flourishes in a dreamy blend which captures the moment.

Rebsie: vocals, electric guitar
Daniel: vocals, classical guitar, cello ... plus all the songwriting and mix!

Amongst The Colours
So calming, relaxing, sweet and beautiful. Great vocal work. The way your two voices blend in and out like they are dancing through space together. Just fantastic work Rebsie. I agree with Feter that the Cello is really solid here as well. All of it great. Thanks :D

Thank you Grant. Love your description of the vocals ... that's just how we hoped it would sound. And Daniel's cello is always a highlight. Really appreciate you listening!

Very much in the tradition...
...of Sixties and Seventies jazz/folk/rock/pop things...a solid grounding in a tradition, while sounding wholely and completely like its own thing... The blend of your two voices really works here, and serves both voices. The nylon string guitar against the cello, left versus right channels, also works, and frames the vocals very well in the sonic space. No idea what it's about, but who cares? The overall vibe is such that one assumes that the singer(s) know(s) and it's something deep and heartfelt. Great collab, all around...

Thank you Ed ... I always appreciate your comments. We try to approach all our songs on the basis of being deep and heartfelt, so it's good to know that it comes through that way. The challenge is always to get things to blend while occupying their own space in the mix at the same time.

Echoing...
...Ed's comments. You get a lot of mileage out of just two chords, Daniel. All the little cello licks create a tasty backdrop for these gentle vocals and the guitar work comes through at many "silent" moments with just a perfect break from the vocals. What a pleasant experience listening to your beautifully recorded and performed collaboration. You guys are so well-suited and you have created many gems, this being among the mellowest.
Peace.

Rebsie said 125 days ago (July 19th, 2009)

Thank you Paul! The two chord structure is partly because of my limited guitar skills ... we built the song around my electric guitar track, and as my small fingers can't do bar chords properly, it was just "ouch-ouch" all the way through. Daniel's cello and guitar totally transform it.

We both appreciate your constant support and encouragement very much. We are really enjoying working together so it means a lot to us to have positive comments about our partnership.

Very nice work you 2
A great blending of your voices set this off as an unusually sweet piece. Love the Nylon and the cello playing off of each other as they do.

Very well done, Kudos to you both.

Soothing ..
a curious blend of Spanish classical guitar stylings with some more gypsy-esque cello: the vocals give it a little more leaning to celtic folk. These 3 distinct elements combined make this work very well and interesting and a touch different. Enjoyed it. Good collaborative work again you two, well mixed as I'd expect as well.

Thanks Alan ... Daniel is a master of those twiddly sliders ... he always knows how to get our stuff sounding good. We like to kick the genres up the arse too ... I had no idea what to post this under, which is always a good sign. Glad you enjoyed it.

Cello
For me, the cello is a real highlight, along with the Spanish acoustic guitar. I truly get the impression that you two are singing in the same room, which is nice. A slight downside: There are times when Rebsie's pitch is not spot on with Luna's, which my ears want with such a simple, otherwise precise track; but only if this track is for eventual CD production.

I could see this as a film score song, for something like a remake of El Cid...!

Thank you Tobin ... we appreciate you stopping by. We're aware there are some rough edges in this - but we didn't want to lose the spontaneity of the live recordings. Glad it sounded like we were in the same room ... that's always a difficult thing to achieve with distance collaboration.

We'll live with it for a while before deciding whether it has a place on a CD release ... and if it does we will tighten it up a bit.

splendid, just splendid
I love the romance in this, it isn't simple, it is a love for everything, this is ready to go. I'd buy this on iTunes in a heartbeat. Rebsie and Daniel, your voices compliment each other wonderfully, and Rebsie your voice only seems to discover new depths daily. This is also quite psychedelic for me, filled with passion. The rawness is working wonders.

It is very satisfying...
To hear this old song resurrected after so many years.... and my thanks to Rebsie for taking an interest in it. The original was a lot different in that it was sort of written as a pop song - but I like this version so much better. One thing I am enjoying about our musical partnership is that we are finding more ways to blend and use classical guitar and cello.

Gypsy, celtic sound combined. Mysterious sultry sound that splashes on the shore of our mind. A whisper of wind so high among the trees that surely there are higher powers than we that hear.

not sure how i missed this one
I really like the unison vocals of the piece. Daniel, you added just enough breathiness to blend perfectly with Rebsie's beautiful, raspy strength. The combination of instrumentation on this is gorgeous. A full rich sound achieved with minimal accompaniment. Lovely.

Evocative
Beautiful and serene. Great hook line. Lovely instrumentation. I like the mix generally. I would have liked a bit more separation between the voices but that may well be the style and mixture you guys were going for.

Overall, great work.
