Description
Band mates (Blue Yodel No.9) and I cut four tracks live in the studio to use as a demo for coffeehouse gigs. This #2 out of four. Sorta of a country thang. Would love to track this one day with steel, fiddle, harmonica. A song about being home sick.

Lyrics
Amarrillo
There’s something ‘bout this place that always keeps me comin’ back, Amarillo
You see cows in all directions on the flat and dusty track in Amarillo
I got bills to pay and friends who know the truck I drive in Amarrilo
Had my share of nasty scrapes, guess I’m lucky to be alive, Amarillo
Still have more dreams than I’ve regrets
I ‘m doubled down but I’m not finished laying bets
Ooh you’re in my system yet , Amarillo
Been working down in Houston but I send my paychecks back to Amarillo
Where my sweet Juanita waits inside a little bungalow beneath the willows
We drive out to the canyon and watch the clouds makin’ patterns on the hoodoos
And we’re careful drivin’ back, cuz those Texas two-lane gravel roads can fool you
You ain’t from around here or you’d know the reason why
Lookin’ out for miles beneath a blue umbrella sky
Ooh might spread my wings and fly back to Amarillo
Bridge:
There’s other towns with higher ground where I make better pay
But shopping malls with waterfalls don’t make me wanna stay
And glass and steel and fancy wheels may glitter in the sun
But there’s just one place that I wannabe when day is done
The first thought when I wake up and the last before my heads hits the pillow
is the sound of tires on gravel as I turn into the drive in Amarillo
I wind the clock again but its no use ‘cuz the time is draggin’ real slow
And I’ll count the hours and minutes till I get myself back to Amarillo
Still have more dreams than I’ve regrets
I ‘m doubled down but I m not finished laying bets
Ooh you’re in my system yet Amarillo
