Description
This is more Indie folk, but only because it's not as well done as real folk. Not that indie means "poorly done"... whatever...
I used to play acoustic sets every Sunday night a this place in Tempe. Since nobody goes to bars on Sunday nights, my sister and her husband came to watch me one night. My sets were 3 hours long so I had to throw everything in there. My sister HATED this song. She thinks it's whiny and stupid and that I should never play it again. I started cracking up. I guess you'd have to understand my family.
We were poor growing up (who wasn't?) so she thought it was autobiographical, but it really isn't. I was just remembering that the cool kids were the kids that wore Guess shirts and Z. Cavaricci shorts and poor kids didn't... and apparently that was all that mattered. Anyway, she hates it so I recorded it and I'm giving it to her tomorrow so she can make it her ringback or something.

Lyrics
Rich kids wear fancy clothes
So the other kids know
That their dads have good jobs
Poor kids wear ragged clothes
So the other kids know
That their dads don't have jobs
Rich kids and poor kids can never coexist
It's a cold, hard fact of life
It cannot be denied
Poor kids walking back home
Find themselves alone
With empty stomachs
Rich kids get rides back home
From stay at home moms
With after school snacks
chorus
So the other kids know
That their dads have good jobs
Poor kids wear ragged clothes
So the other kids know
That their dads don't have jobs
Rich kids and poor kids can never coexist
It's a cold, hard fact of life
It cannot be denied
Poor kids walking back home
Find themselves alone
With empty stomachs
Rich kids get rides back home
From stay at home moms
With after school snacks

really glad you recorded this. your vocals and production sound really good. totally get what you're going for genre-wise (intentionally or not) and I like. The chorus is as catchy as a cold sore and I'm already singing them after the first listen. Great song eric. Your sister's crazy.
