Description
Another short ambient tune. I made this one from a TuneToys midi file. An awful lot of tweaking and pencilling to try and make it tuneful!

I've used The Zebra 2 and Zebralette soft synths for the sounds, and a Logic bass setting.

Have a listen, why not! Cheers.

And you can have a look now too. A little movie to go with the music. Music is 256kbps, but film obviously optimised.

I have a problem with my ears right now, maybe tinitus, so I'm always aware that there may be horrid noises that I'm not hearing. So it's nice to get positive comments. Thanks!

it is a memory of a dream
there is a taste of satsuma orange. a crisp sky of childhood floats above. it is close enough to touch. the trees paint clouds on the blue canvas. a touch of breeze. a tickle of grass. laughter chases children up the hill. the satsuma peel is left behind.

i hear much work behind this music to create the result. it is skillful. is there a word you used in tunetoys to create this? thank you. 0x0

I spend forever trying to place everything in the mix. I don't really know what I am doing, as I keep telling people, so it's really nice to get comments like this. Makes all the hours worth while. It's always a bonus when someone tells you they've downloaded too. Thank you.

Maybe I should go on a Logic course or something!

There is quite a
contrast between the sombre bass and the bright/sparkly synths that gives this lovely piece an unusual counter balance. Enjoyed.
I had to google TuneToys - interesting.
Cheers

Contrast
That's what I always try to do. I think it makes sounds stand out when you do that, especially with synthesised sounds.

Tune toys provides you with raw material to work with, but it's a bit hit and miss. And the midi you get needs a LOT of work usually to make it musical. I've had a lot of failures! Here's the website url:

Thanks Len.

Zebralette
what a cute name. i love that main tinkly synth sound - the bell-like chimey thingy. how's that for technical terminology? this is a sweet little tune you've developed and a wonderfully delicate and breathy combination of sounds. very nice work. i especially like the fade-out ending.

Cute name! It's a cute little synth too, that came along free with its big brother, The Zebra 2. "Bell-like chimey thingy"!! That's what I call them too. I know not the technical terms either. There are two of them in this tune, if you listen. The other, more echoey one, is panned slightly right. It was the hardest track to get right. I'm still not altogether happy with it, I must say. I couldn't get it sitting in there just as I would have liked. There ya go!

Many thanks.

Hi....
I think this is a wonderful arrangement. I like all what you have done with the mix.

You can't beat algorithmic music, unless there's too much editing and tweaking involved. Then it can become tedious. This piece was, I think, well worth your effort.

I've had the cheek to try this sort of generator for myself. I hope you don't mind.

Take care.

Paul

True Ambience
I have to say you accomplished "tuneful" and also a nice ethereal ambience. Might be nice to extend this a little. Ambient music like this is unhurried, and can take it's time.

Take Care

From the center, I mean centre
This will sound terrible to you, but my favorite part is the first 15 seconds. Beautiful little cascade and the resolution at 0:15 is really choice. Not to say the rest isn't nice, as well. You're covering much more harmonic space than usual, with mode changes on the tinkly thing. At 2:42 there's a jarring dissonance that takes the tune off into a slightly different direction, but only momentarily. Very clever. I agree with peacepiano to an extent, about making it longer, but it has a finished and self-contained quality already. Very enjoyable listen.

Hi Mo
Thanks!

Now; I don't think I ever said I wasn't musically inclined. I believe I am, very much! I love music a great deal, in all it's guises. Maybe I mentioned not being very skilful with fingers or voice in the music making department, but again, I make up for it [imho] by what's inside my head. And a great deal of software "cheating", if that is what it is. In the end, it's all music, isn't it? I like making it and I like listening to what I've made. If other people like it too, then that's a fantastic bonus.

Anyway - nice to hear from you, and thanks again for your kind thoughts.
