Description
I had some spare time- this is a riff that I came up with. Not real original but fun to play.Inspired by Chet Atkins and Lonnie Johnson.

Aw Country-Air
This is terrific ...the deep tone sounds like
a semi hollow guitar that fit the style ...its
remarkable how to pick on country chet atkins
with strat ..but what a golden hands those did
this ...very soulful and true to the style ...

deepest bow !!!!

Nice ending...
I can only dream about having such liquid smooth control of my playing as you exhibit here and on all your songs, Mark.

Thanks for bringing them here. And original or not, this is going to join your others on my iPod.

Wouldn't have
missed your riff noodling for anything! The tone you come up with just blows my mind... Simply excellent...

I know you have years of practice and all but how you play without even a single buzz just floors me... every note perfectly hit... A goal I still shoot for!

It took me a long, embarrassing second...
...to catch the pun in the title... After all these years of the Mark Stunkel sensibility, they should NOT take me by surprise...

I know this gets said a lot, Mark, but you do get a phenomenal chime out of that one guitar, and you're getting better and better at capturing it in the recording, with good levels and all that... It really sounds like some huge jazz thing that takes two laps hold onto...

I continue to be impressed at these Chester and Lester moments where you play the part of both guys....

I was
running out of puns but last week an angel named macaroni appeared to me and left me a parchment with the words "Aw Country-air" inscribed on it.The parchment has disappeared but fortunately I remembered the phrase and used it for this song title.I am in fact founding a new religion which worships Travis picking called Travisty. If you would like to join please send me a donation of (at least) $100 per month. You will receive a free booklet which will teach you how to play "Freight Train", "Deep River Blues" and 4 more worship songs.

Nice licks Mark
It does have the Chet Atkins feel to it. Very well play, as I expected. You have a gift on the fretboard my friend. I have to agree with futzpucker about the ending Mark, really smooth and slick.

And that is still a strat?
You're getting close to the Country Gentleman sound...

Cool tune, if the influences are a bit obvious. It has a great flow.

Inspired by Chet? Or played by him???
Come on, admit it; you ARE Chet, are you not? Many, this is fun stuff, played impeccably as usual. Much like Chet. Therefore, you are Chet. I apologize for blowing your cover, but you can't play like this and pretend otherwise.

Okay, all silliness aside, this is first rate country pickin', and I really enjoyed it. I have mentioned before that one of the things we have in common is a love of Mr. Atkins guitar playing, one of my heroes when I was a teenager learning guitar.

You may be thinking Country...
...but I am thinking that you mix a whole lot of styles in this really appealing inprovisation: you've not only got some jazz going on, but (listening carefully!!!) I also find your penchant for classical composition, too. And, like Futz says above, "liquid smooth control" --- your signature. You handle the guitar with such a light and secure touch and, as a result, you make MUSIC, not just pretty sounds. Loved this.
Peace.

well
as a self professed rock and roll guy, i must admit an affinity to mr Atkins. he was a genius in a time that some consider the state of electrified instruments to be primitive at best. not to mention the art of actually recording a song. in those times, outtakes were time wasted, so when they went in it was one take or you're fired.
this song brings that feeling of one man and his music, one take, all the way through, one with the song and the instrument. this is a very polished peice. from start to finish, it is a great display of your musical prowess as well as your ability to get such a warm toned, and out in front recording.
great effort, and as most have said now, as in the past, you are an amazing musical talent.
it is a great honor to be able to hear this beautiful music. all hail the internet, and the apple!
