Description
The Spirare game project has heated up lately; the programmer, my friend named Ben, has begun to request more music. Here is where the story essentially begins – in a good cave, where No-Name, the main character, has settled in for the night after temporarily escaping his pursuer (who is the beast depicted in "Nurture Me", another song found in my library). No-Name writes peacefully in his journal and contemplates the nature of a soul.

Really?
Thank you, Sheila! Glad you enjoyed. Why didn't you know what to expect? Was it because of the genre? Just curious.

Honored, Feter. The layers were interested to do since it's one of the simplest songs I've composed in awhile. I sought to make a rich environment with few instruments. Thanks for your encouragements.

unusual and intriguing
Love the little "up-down-up-down-huh?" motif with other countermelodies floating over it. The super-high-screetchy synth is a little piercing, maybe roll off the highs slightly on it, or lower the volume slightly? This is strangely catchy... cool!

Is "No-Name" a placeholder, or are you really going to use that in the game? What about something silly/punny/tangential, like calling him "DePlume" (c.f. "nom de plume")? Will you guys be selling this game eventually? Good luck, writing games is a LOT of hard work!

Drakonis

The dragon speaks wisely.
Thanks for dropping by on this particular occasion, Drako. I thought of you a little while composing Good Cave. Well, more than a little. There was a reprieve that I had to slash out completely because it was almost an exact copy of a line in Ember!! The gaseous infection leaked out from my subconscious mind apparently.

Took me awhile to understand what you meant by "the super-high-screetchy synth is a little piercing," but now I know. It was a subtle pierce. I can feel it. This problem can be fixed. Thanks for pointing it out.

No-Name is not a placeholder in the projected manuscript. It is part of the canon. However, it IS a placeholder within the story itself. The character is called No-Name for awhile because nothing better could be thought up. Apparently he needed to discover a purpose that merited a name first. I don't know if the game will get sold or not. We at least plan to spread it across the internet as freeware.

Yeah, I've begun to feel the burn. But it's fun to create a framework of music that's all interlinked thematically. Thanks for your support!

Blessings,
Matt

Mmm
Thank you sir. It is in fact an interesting experience so far, though I've only scratched the surface. I'm being taught how to link many songs together in a thematic web. In this video-game (much like a novel), the characters and environments, to which the songs apply, are all coming together to shape the essence of the overall story. So my music must conform to those patterns. Hey, thanks for stopping by again. See ya around!
