Outlaw (Part 2)

Description
Well, here is the second installment in my outlaws story. This song is from an outsiders perspective of our so called villain. Wrongly accused of his wife's murder and killing the sheriff, he finds himself being called an Outlaw, wherever he goes. Wanted posters in every town. So he heads for the border with many a mile to go.

Please forgive the poor quality of the recording but I wrote this sometime ago before my computer crashed and I lost the files to all three parts to this saga. I hope you can still appreciate it. Thank you for all your kind comments to part 1, it is always appreciated very much.

Lyrics
Outlaw

The sun sets slow in the summertime
But he don't care
He's got a long way to go
Many a mile behind him
But he don't care
He's got a long way to go
With a posse full of hot guns
And a bounty that will never let him go
Running down this cowboy
For a crime he committed, so it's told
Chasing the sunsets
Like it's made of diamonds and gold

Chorus
They call him an outlaw
And that's all he'll ever be
They call him an outlaw
And that's all we'll ever see
They call him an outlaw

Keeping the wind to his back
and thinking about a girl he used to know
Many a mile behind him
And many a rainy mile to go
With the storm in the sky
And the brim of his hat turned low
No guilt in his mind
Traveling empty miles to Mexico

Chorus
Repeat

The sun sets slow in the summertime
but he don't care
He's got a long way to go
Many a mile behind him
And many a mile to go

This is just so powerful deep song ..the most
impressive about it ..is the vocal work it has
something from the Allmans but the rockin beats
works over and let it all sound so great ...

Nice that you could find/resurrect this... hope you pursue pulling this from the ashes and whip the trio into the tour-de-force these will become!

Hey, I like this...
On my headphones it's a pretty cavernous mix, but some of that actually suits the theme...

The song's really strong... I like the twanging guitar riff that runs through the song... And your singing sounds awesome...

Anthony,
This one fools you. Starts out easy, then the rock kicks in. You need to have your voice forward in the first verse -- too hard to understand lyrics. The second verse is about right for voice. Maybe bringing down crispness of top-side percussion will help balance things out. I'll go listen to part one now.

Well written song. I like cowboy songs. Wrote one myself.

Cool song
Really great tone on the acoustic. Is that 1 track or 2? Same vibe as Midnight Rider by the Allman Brothers - music fits the lyric really well. The drums towards the end were up a little too much for me - they overwhelmed your fine vocal and guitar work.

so many
songs in the past told stories, and then, suddenly vanished from modern music.
storytellers have been weaving musical tales for hundreds of years, and it is great to hear the tradition continued. funny, in the beginning of the song, you had a Gordon Lightfoot thing going on, one of the most prolific of the acoustic storytellers, but then, all at once, the song became all yours. great post.
on the engineering side, vocals were either recorded hot, or mixed hot. maybe it is how you wanted it, not sure. this song would really benefit from a rerecording. it is too good to not have the best recording possible.
great post, thenks for letting us enjoy your music.
