the official kick off has begun
this is excellent. vocally rich. I'm repeating but you two meld so well.

there is a nice magic to this. the guitar is very nicely done. Does remind me a bit of a Steve Hacket style, back when he was in Genesis.

Excellent job Daniel & Rebsie

Hi Guys.....
I really like this sound. Everything seems to work very well together, with both voices complimenting each other and the guitar work being magickal (proper spelling).

I love the artwork. I remember studying this many years ago in my OTO/GD/AA days. Love is the Law, Love under Will.

Take care.

Aha! Thanks Paul, you get the prize for spotting the Golden Dawn symbolism. There is a strong alchemical and Rosicrucian thread running through our work together, and I'm really chuffed you picked up on it.

Very pleased you're enjoying our new sound ... we appreciate your support.

Stunning
excellence... This is a duo I am expecting lots of really cool stuff from...

I love this tune... I would have loved if during the first half if cello had been gently working in the background... I think the dreamy guitars could have been anchored with some moody cello...

Excellent tune!

AlchymicalMuse said 109 days ago (August 8th, 2009)

Thanks so much Mark. Actually we were originally intending to add cello to this, but then we decided we liked it with its space and openness, so we left it as it is. There will however be a LOT of cello on our future posts ... our sound is going to revolve around it as one of the main instruments.

What a blend!
Bits of 'Voyage of the Acolyte' and bits of Mike Oldfield and Loreena McKennit... echoes, really, because this is its own thing....

The guitar work is well suited to the whole piece, and the vocal work is tight, moving and impressive....

Are you guys really doing this by email or are you ever in the same room? It's different kinds of impressive either way... Doesn't have that 'recorded in two different environments' feel at all.... Sounds like you rented a small, tasteful and well appointed cathedral, in fact...

I'm very impressed and looking forward to more....

Can you post the lyrics, or does that conjure up something?....

Ed

Oh, a small cathedral of our own - we would love that! We're aiming towards working together in the same room but for the moment we are constrained to email and iChat and the mystical ethers.

Thank so much for your kind words, here and elsewhere.

The lyrics, along with the rest of the song, were improvised - so they're not really words as such - unless we have accidentally channelled some ancient Enochian ritual, in which case - whoops.

TAM
well, from the moment this partnership made itself known to us, I have loved you together. I have a very special Rebsie/Daniel playlist on my iPod full of your gorgeous tunes. This piece is a perfect example of how your voices weave in and out of each other exquisitely. A perfect melding of breathy, organic, rustic sound, supported by delicate, perfectly composed instrumentation. Beautiful.

Thank you Shay, that means a lot to us. We wanted to have a joint project where our voices could weave together as equal partners, as well as contributing to each other's solo projects - and it gives us the freedom to be a bit more musically experimental. Very glad you're enjoying the results.

Very Nice
Fav'd and d'l. Loved the Gregorian Chant Meets the Dark Side kind of vibe. Very nice. BTW I thought that the Cross of the Golden Dawn has a cross in the center of it with a rose at the center of that. Is this cross have a different symbolism?
AlchymicalMuse said 106 days ago (August 11th, 2009)

You're right, the Golden Dawn cross is a rose cross on a rose cross. The inner one is there in the picture, just very small and not very easy to see on a low-res image!

Thank you for your nice comment and for liking it enough to download.

free from harmonic interference?
Hmm... this interesting phrase, coupled with your forays into experimental musical areas, caused me to suddenly consider music itself as 'Tasteful Harmonic Interference'... which I now offer to you as possibly a cool name for one of your upcoming songs :-) But I digress, as usual.

Very intriguing moire patterns created from the sonic ripples of Daniel, overlapping the sonic ripples of Rebsie... this will be a great team to watch!

Sorry for being so late to the party, is there any cake left?

ttfn,
Drakonis

Good Start
Lovely wilting tune. Like musical rain splashing into a moon lit pool. It could only happen on Macjams, such a union as yours. Drifting on opposite sides of the Atlantic, this place aloud you to collide. Will you ever meet? I would love to see you both play live.

Yes, we are working towards meeting up and playing live. We have to be very grateful to MacJams for enabling us to find each other, and the aim now is to make our way in the wider world - and when you find the right partnership the ocean is no obstacle!

Thanks for your support Martin.

Quite a beautiful opening to a sonic journey
that definitely has what it takes to go the distance and beyond. You two have been building up to this for some time and the result is stunning. Beyond genre - a new music. Very well done.

great vocals - and the guitars are so clean and bright - a joy to listen to

You two make a great match!
This is absolutely stunning! Love it a lot. :) Okay, I can't just leave it at that - the layering of the voices, the caressing dissonances in the harmonies, the neuron swelling sound overall... this is just right for my ears and brain. It's just plain perfect.

Purity Expressed
There's something white and shining about the way this comes across, both in the vocals and the guitar. Simple and honest. Beautiful.

Lovely music here.
