The Potter's Wheel

Description
This is another track from my new CD, Prophetic Guesses, a much more guitar-oriented mix of songs that my earlier LT efforts. On this particular song, I tried to make my Strat give the impression of someone spinning as the wheel speeds up. I hope you enjoy it. If anyone is interested, the album can be acquired and downloaded from http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/LunaTrick1

Lyrics
The Potter's Wheel

I see you on the other side of the window
Your face impenetrable yet shining
Something wild is happening inside you
You’re caught in the turmoil of changing

I wish it was I that was caught in the tide
A sacred plea to my mythology
Just to sit on the wheel and face the hands
To madly spin for your demands

I feel your smile as a warm vapor
And how I’m tyrannized by mud
You sing as a changeling in mid-stride
Your melody pummels me in the sod

Your hands on me like a convict in winter
And eyes delirious in their finding
A laugh rumbles from its distant origin
You bruise me to see how I’m faring

Now you’re on my side of the window
Your joy succumbs to disenchantment
Seduced by the normality of violence
I slip, unbroken, from under your thumb

Be Bop Deluxe
This one is a bit more 'straight ahead' rock for you, some very nice crunchy electric guitar sounds going on here. The cool calm deep vocals work very nicely in this context. Some impressive Bill Nelson-esque lead guitar in there
Cheers for sharing

Always nice to hear you rock out
Your voice is immaculately matched in its contrast to the guitars - the warm softness of the vocal placed against the abrasive wall of sound. Plenty of texture and character in there, especially with the bright windows of chorussy guitar which come in from time to time, and the nice build up with the subdued lead break towards the end. Excellent lyrics too ... you have a poet's gift for lyrics.

I may be slightly biased but I think your Prophetic Guesses album is fucking brilliant. Whoops, am I allowed to say that on here? Oh well, I just did.

I'm very proud of you anyway.

Crazy sound on the git
The spin part combined with the guitar priceless. Great peotry BTW I love a contemplative story as this. The drums sounds driven almost like there was a session player on this. Crazy lead by the way blew me away! Great song thanks!

Feels and sounds a bit like
my brother's two man band from the 80's - "Datahysteri" (represented in iTunes store, at least in Sweden, with the album "27 Visions of the Door". I can't understand why, but it seems I have missed to fav you, so I haven't got emails when you post. A lot of fun to look forward to, I'm sure! Take care.

A very dark piece
I liked the vocal delivery. It worked really well set against the rock backing. Strangely enough I also got more than a whiff of Be Bop De Luxe.

Impressive work.

Cheers

Dick

Be Bop Deluxe
Was one of the first gigs I ever went to (circa 1976 when the sunburst finish album came out) I think I saw them a couple of more times after that (Brum Odeon - modern music album and drastic plastic album) I have also always liked Bill Nelson's solo stuff and his approach in general to making and distributing music.
Loved Bill and Be Bop. I often wonder what happend to the other band members - charlie, andy and simon

anyways - well done on the tune - sounds great

Compelling number...
Daniel,
I'm not really qualified to critically comment on this genre, but I am drawn into the number by the (1) bass, (2) the multiple timbres of guitars from verse to verse, (3) your confident vocal delivery. Your songs are always so well-thought-out...(wow! that lead solo about 3 minutes in is terrific! ...and later on, too.)...You seem to churn out these "hits" one by one almost effortlessly, though I know you must spend hours and hours to "get it just right." Powerful stuff...that I appreciate on mostly an aesthetic level. Well-crafted music from the first note until the end. WOW!
Peace.
