Description:
I still consider this a work in progress. In fact, all my stuff is. Only one real "loop" was used in this, and the rest is MIDI. Thanks.
Lyrics:
As I was walking along the beach one morning, I came across a robot that appeared to be malfunctioning. In need of a friend, I decided to take it back home with me and repair it.
When I was finished, the robot came back to life and immediately demonstrated and insatiable hunger to learn. I decided for its first lesson that I'd teach it to play the piano. To my amazement the robot learned quickly, and in no time, for some time, the robot demonstrated a glimmer of humanity through its apparent love of music.
The robot and I eventually became friends, and thus one of the strangest relationships I'd ever held was born. But alas, time once again took its toll on its alrealy fragile condition. Sensing its demise, the robot asked me to return it to the beach to die.
I reluctantly obliged, and I carried my friend to the same spot where I found "him", and as I walked away, lest my ears deceived me, I could hear echoes of the music we shared.....and I wept....
Hardware:
My trusty iMac G4. Still the prettiest personal computer out there. Oh, and a M-Audio Keystation 49e too (not as pretty).
Software:
GarageBand

I didn't mean to write none in the software section.

Thank you Mungo, my only fan. Well, I thought about extending the
song and adding more of a story to it. I need to explain the relationship
with the robot and myself a little further, and show how close a human
and a machine became so as to emphasize the emotional part in the end
when the robot finally expires. Like I said, it's a work in progress.
Thanks again! [ Reply to This ]

You're absolutely correct. I recorded the vocals using the internal mic on
my iMac. I'll try and add a little effects to it and raise the volume, and
spruce up the wording too. Thanks for your comment! [ Reply to This ]

I love the chaotic beat and the whimsical lyrics...reminds me of something like Radiohead fused with Primus almost...this is awesome...8-8-8-8 [ Reply to This ]

Thank you very much. This has got to be the coolest hobby in the world,
and I've never really had a hobby before GarageBand came along. Such a
great stress reliever. I think medical researchers should test the effects
of GarageBand against those of Prozac, Zoloft and other such garbage. I
think they'll find some interesting results... [ Reply to This ]
Very cool - 10 &mdash 12/30/04 - 08:41:08 PM
This was very nicely put together... very electronic. I like
the story aspect of it too.
Through your songs I get the idea that you appreciate
video game music (and music in general) as I do. Did you
by any chance play the megaman games or ninja gaiden?
The style sounds similar to me... in any case, its good!
I disagree with the vocals being too quiet, at least in
headphones... it sounds perfect to me. Maybe on certain
speakers it is different though.
You are very good with Garageband, I never would have
guessed you used it. I am currently working on a song
with Garageband (a first time for me) with no loops... I'm
finding that Garageband, as simple as it is can be very
powerful... and you help demonstrate that with your
songs. It's nice to see this kind of variety here. I'll be
checking your artist page often. Fan 1.

Nice story &mdash 12/31/04 - 11:50:09 AM
Nice story, some really great grooves. Ever read Galatia 2.0 by Powers? Similar story. Very nice track. (You can edit the contents of your descriptor fields by using the EDIT button at the top of your song page.) [ Reply to This ]

Impassible: Yes I do like video game music very much, and by the same token film soundtracks as well. Any music that would complement a visual story is what I like basically. Haven't played many of the megaman games, but I did enjoy Ninja
Gaiden, especially the last one that came out. Now that you've mentioned it, the music does sound similar indeed. Thanks for your praise.
Suzanne: Thank you for your kind words. As per your question; I haven't read "Galatia 2.0", though it certainly sounds interesting. Since I'm already at the library, I'll check to see if they have it in. Oh, and thanks, being perpetually absent minded, I've never noticed that Edit button there before you mentioned it. Cheers! good story and effects &mdash 06/17/05 - 01:02:29 PM
I've been listening to your tunes today, since you just
commented on "Hegira".
I remember liking your "Theme - Third Draft" very much
awhile back, and I wanted to hear your other work. It is
very good!
You have a real talent for electronic sound effects. The
use of them is very imaginative in this tune.
I like the story element of this piece also. As previously
suggested, the voice-over could be louder.
I would also pace your words just a bit more slowly, to let
the plot really sink in to the listener's consciousness.
I do hope that you continue to re-work your tunes as
you've mentioned.....there is much potential here.
This piece strikes me more as a game/soundtrack one
than electronic/dance. [ Reply to This ]
wonderful... &mdash 06/23/05 - 11:12:42 PM
....use of effects to make this track move and give it a very
'tech' feel. Kept my interest all the way through. I would
agree that the vocals could be redone, slowing them down
a little.
Excellent!

Nice little story. Loved the fast, kinda crazy beats. Very
robotic without sounding very loopish.
Very cool track. [ Reply to This ]
