Description
Another song in my "Father and Son" series. My father inspired this one with a poem. It is one of those philosophical debates one has with oneself when examining ones place in the grand scheme of things.

Lyrics
I once saw a turtle that got me to thinkin
He was up on a fencepost just sittin' and blinkin'
I thought of wonders in space, distant and far
and how seldom we realize how great they are.
And wonders so close we take them for granted
Like colorful flowers that someone else planted.
And of the beautiful things that are most everywhere
And that an unseen hand must have put them all there.
Why would that turtle provoke thoughts such as this?
Causing my mind to reminisce.
Then I realized what I should have all along known
There is no way that turtle could have gotten there all alone.
I had completely lost sight of that poor turtle's plight.
Being absorbed with the revelation I'd found.
But my immediate reaction was an act of compassion
as I put the turtle down to the ground.
When we feel the touch of an unseen hand.
Does it just inspire us or make a demand?
That we pass it along and touch someone too.
Whether a turtle, a person, or someone like you.
