Description
Another one in my "Father and Son" collection. My father wrote this poem which I used (with very few changes) as the lyrics to this song. I love the lyrics. They make me think of his (Charlie Stone) wit which was never ending. He didn't start writing poetry until late in life (in his 70's). He was very prolific. I've written dozens of songs based on his words and will be happy to share them.

Lyrics
Where did the Devil go?
I think I know where the devil goes when they say he isn't here.
Just check your paper everyday, the Devil's there, I fear.
There in the details of the news you read
You'll find an interesting fact.
Satan's found a hiding place
and he's doing his diabolical act!
He's behind the political rhetoric
Polarizing left and right
He's happily doing his best to create
Considerably more heat than light.
He's backing the thought to deny civil rights
to others who exhibit a difference.
With fashionable passion he hasten to chasten
those making it a morale offense.
I think I know where the devil goes when they say he isn't here.
Just check your paper everyday, the Devil's there, I fear.
He is between all the lines of the news accounts
that misrepresent the war.
He takes a measure of pleasure in an eye for an eye
in an effort to even the score.
The Devil is well and alive you see.
Using a trick he learned from below.
He simply keeps up a low profile.
The Devil's in the details you know!

Like the 'Gentle Giant' feel of this. Well conceived and the writing is so true true... love the wall of guitars
