Description
I wrote this for my daughter's wedding. It started out as a piece for string quartet and vocals and grew from there.

Lyrics
Our Daughters

When she was three
oh what would she be
she wondered, aloud,
with a look in her eye

When she was three
oh what would she be
she wondered, aloud,
with a look in her eye

A princess in a fairy tale,
riding on a rainbow pony
Dancing on the clouds
and dreaming little girl dreams

Our little girls grow up to be fine ladies
We watch them grow so quickly before our eyes
and someday they will fall in love and marry
and they will have little girls of their own.

Charming
as charming as your daughter is beautiful. You must be proud of both song and daughter. Indeed, God bless you and yours!

I am indeed proud.
It was a beautiful wedding in Berkeley, California. Unfortunately, she made me a grandfather way too young... I've forgiven her for that ;)

Amen on the daughter muse!
Nice voice, quite a change from Mumble Grumble! Again with the daughter?! I'm tuned to your channel -- the daughter-as-music channel -- and here I feel as if you're channeling the best. I dunno, a George Martin kind of approach - not spare but not overdone. The strings are part of the composition, not just tagged on "because you can."

loved this
Having two daughters of my own not quite at this stage, this song touched me. I am a child of the 60's and this reminded me alot of Seals and Croft. One of my all time favorites - I loved them, I cannot tell you how much I really enjoyed this. This was such a wonderful gift for your daughter and you are very talented! Thanks for sharing it with us.

wow...
This is a big change from your usual wild stuff. The melody is unique and beautifully sung. Really excellent job on the vocals Steve!

The music keeps me wanting to see where this will go!

Wedding music.
I did 2 songs for her wedding, both relatively sedate compared to my usual style). She has since made me a grandfather. That was bitter/sweet. Love my grandson, but I've noticed quite a bit more grey hair on my head since I acquired the title. Cause/effect? Not quite sure.

Thanks, Karen
I really appreciate your comments. My daughter asked me to do something for her wedding. She had hired a string quartet so I originally had that as my target, but it was clear that I wouldn't have time to rehearse with them so I made a recording instead. This was played as her "first dance" song. She did a waltz to this. It was a very touching moment that meant a lot to me.

I'm really glad you appreciate it. I also did a version of "The Wedding Song" that I thought turned out very nice.
