Description
got frustrated with my LIOLI track, so I banged this one out. spent about an hour on it total:20 minutes tracking, 40 minutes doing drums and mixing, and it shows. I know i spent 20 minutes tracking as I was in a rush to get it finished before I had to go pick up my daughter and was eyeballing the clock while i played. this is supposed to be a 1:27 second slice of punk pop, so i don't mind the overall sound. think nirvana trying to write a song like the damned and killing joke.

I hear a litle Pixies in there too
in the far away guitar bit near the beginning. Great slice - I'd order two next time.
Don't even get me started on LIOLI9.

yeah, the leads are kind of Pixies-ish. that middle pickup/rat pedal combo do it every time. glad you liked.

don't be sorry
Short and sweet. Very sweet.
I'm amazed at what you can do in such a short space of time like your previous song you wrote in the car.
I should try and hone things down a bit like you
raw energy gives purpose.
Cool track

with a 2 year old in the house, you just grab the time when you can. i was supposed to have a few hours, but Podfarm was acting weird and I had to diagnose the problem and treat it (trashed the program and re-installed). lucky i remembered my pre-sets were in their before i hit "empty trash." thanks for the listen and the kind words.

big bang
1 hour to bang this out ... this can be called effective ... and no reason for eyeballing!

Sounds fresh and punky!

Ooh.
1:27 is all you need, man. Of the many things you do that make me jealous, it's the natural feel of your midi-drums. Maybe I need to invest in some patience. Great tune.

thanks man
the drums were pretty easy to do as I didn't really add any fills. and the song is only a minute long. but i am just starting to get to the point where i'm not dreading doing the drums. i actually enjoy tweaking out on them now. thanks for listening.

oh yeah
as I was finishing up the guitars, I looked at the clock and had like 7 minutes left. figured I could knock out the vocals and still get to sophie in time. this was classic "ah, I'll fix it in the mix" recording. thank so much for stopping by.

hey feter
thought about adding more to make it a whole song, but I really liked the idea of a 1 minute song where the chord progression never changes. if it was any longer, i'd still be halfway through the thing. thanks so much for your kind words man, you are a swell guy.

ban your forebrain
sometimes the best way to create something great is by avoiding working on something your forebrain is trying to force yourself to do: just go off and do something else. here's a great example! i like the energy

thanks

i think you're right. now it lookslike the only way I'll get LIOLI finished is if I try to do something else. thanks for stopping by.

i always liked killing joke; they used the parts of metal that I liked and built from there. i don't listen to much aggressive music anymore, but at the time they were like kings. not familiar with the chameleons but will check them out. thanks for the listen Daniel.

it's not hard when you have 4 chords, no changes, no dynamics to speak of, and a minute to fill. setting up the gear is the hard part at that point. always worth the wait on your tracks BTW. thanks for coming over.

pixies is right
Very Frank Black and Kim Deal. Love quickies. The slurry vocal is very Kurt, which feels right. Killing Joke? haven't heard that name in a while, gotta break out some old cassettes! Cool Track!

So Vain
"....I bet I thought this song is about me...."

Sorry - This really kicks with some thrash and jam. I can't imagine you rushing, as you typically knock this good stuff out in short order anyway it seems. Never ceases to amaze me.

growl
loving the return to rock. love your mellower stuff as well but it's cool to hear you growl a little. all those guitars sound very cool and I think the song benefited from you being in a rush. forces you not to think about everything so much - a problem I always have.

sometimes i'm ....
there's not much more rock 'n roll than a 1:27 tune that begins with "sometimes i'm an asshole". this is the kind of effervescent tune that made me feel like music held some possibilities beyond the hick town i was stuck in as a kid. cool stuff, thanks for the DL dude.

the fastest in the west
your vocal inflexions reminds me of an underrated group called the authors and their song Lenny Valentino.

But only you can knock it up like that in one hour.
