Description
Here's the final of 3 songs I've recorded with a MacBook and it's mic while on vacation. Again, not sure if I'll revisit them or not, but man I had fun recording them this way.

This one's a tale of a Native American warrior that the storyteller likens to the Angel of Death.

Lyrics
in the dead air of the night
on his black horse he will ride
you'll see the whites of his eyes
he is comin for your life
there is nowhere left to run
once the dealin has begun
he won't leave until he's done
he is death you are the one

so save your prayers
to save your soul
and save your tears
it's time to go

Warpath
Is it just me or is that air con getting louder?
Love the song. I think this may be one that would benefit from a studio re-visit..while trying to keep the quiet intimacy of the vox.
Keep the space without the hum.
great picture too
Enjoyed

haha
actually, this time it was a couple of those plug-in coolers making the noise. the air-con was off. thanks for the advice. I'm definitely considering recording this one again, maybe with a distant native american drum dance beat playing in the background

Ridd - you need to hang out in the Kootenays more often! This music you created and recorded while you were there has just been inCREDible! Have guitar and laptop, will travel! Fabulous work, thank you for these!

Zoom H2
You should get one of those, great for recording demos.

Maybe, can I try to tackle this one day and do a big production version? It'd probably sound interesting.

Love the hissy demo sound too.

Look out for Son-of-lavalamp coming soon. (My demos, experiments and old tunes.)

I really enjoy
the simplicity of the guitar, vocal and pin hole mic. Really highlights the desperation of the song.

Ride as fast as you can
They're shooting to kill. This phase reminds me a lot of Pedro the Lion. Can't say it enough. I've always looked at David as untouchable, so you're treading on hallowed ground. It's still distinctly you. The lyrics are great. The narrator doesn't seem to fear the "angel of death". It's almost as if he's threatening making the angel of death come to you. Nice twist.

re-visit
would be great! The hiss is distracting at this level - to me...

But, one fine tune as expected.

what a great song writer and performer you are - I am enjoying this immensely through the hiss.

Wow
You sing really well… this is really, really good. As others have said, it deserves a better production, but I am hugely impressed by both the song and your singing of it.

I like it raw
but then I kind of expect it to seguay into an etherial acoustic symphonic thing... a big open sky sort of thing with a deep cello, dance drum under it all. Keep me floating above the great plains and following this native spirit. Cool.

Another
cowboy gem. A vacation in the cool pines of Canada sounds nice right about now. Maybe it will help me write a killer song.
