Viva La Vamos

Description
this song came about pretty darn fast. I recorded the guitars and bass Friday evening. Added midi drums, wrote lyrics and added vocals Saturday afternoon. I wanted to get a quick take and not spend a lot of time on this. Mixing wise, it was a few minor level adjustments.

My spanish is rusty.......... so, I'm claiming artistic license.

Lyrics
Viva La Vamos

I'm getting so bored here
nothing to do but watch the tube
so tired of the evening news
media tells me what to do

we'll hit the road and steal the gas
work odd jobs for a little cash
see how far the money goes
don't really care on the road

viva la vamos
get up and go
viva la vamos
hit the road
no hay problemas en la vida
viva la vamos
get up and go
viva la vamos
get up and go
no hay problemas en la vida here

might spend a night in jail
maybe dry out for a spell
don't make plans for the next day
on the road it's day to day

viva la vamos
get up and go
viva la vamos
hit the road
no hay problemas en la vida here
viva la vamos
get up and go
viva la vamos
get up and go
no hay problemas en la vida here

the muted strumming was something that was done back in the early '70's by a few bands that i was into as a teen. seems you don't hear that anymore.

I'd say T. Rex meets Gary Glitter...
I really like the drums on this.... very live-like and properly propulsive for the tune....

Another one with a lot of guitar energy, but each bit has its spot and a purpose...

wow vic
okay, so right now I have insomnia and I'm running down the song posts. clicked on this one and saw the tag "punk." didn't see your name, but thought "that looks like vic artwork." then as the gtr came in and started to pan to the left, I thought: "spunds like vics gtr." then you started singing and I got around to realizing: "it's vic." dude this is a great glam stomper, love that chorus, and your production chops are not suffering from the lack of time you put into it at all. i too just posted a "punk" number. great track Vic (yours, not mine).

I spent just under 4 hours on this. that included writing the lyrics. usually it takes me 4 hours just thinking about it.

just checked your tune, very cool, i didn't realize you had it up until you mentioned it. I guess that can happen when i don't check in for a couple days.

Digging the beat to this one. A "nah, nah, nah, nah ,nah" feel to it.

Tough
That's the way life can be, but this one gives a little good advice. A rolling stone gathers no moss, they say. Been there done that.

Love the raw feel of this one Vic. Yeah, there are some small things in the mix, but it really doesn't matter, It's a great song, and sounds terrific.

true some rawness, i tried to make it live as possible and not fix anything. I did have to set up the song with 2 guitar tracks. the additional guitars bass and drum tracks are straight thru. the vocal tracks were a second take. once in a while the spirit moves you in that way. :-)

Great insight
on just letting this one come. You captured the tiger by the tail. The chorus is one of the best I've heard on this site. The guitar accents in the chorus are perfect. There's a hint of an accent in this song and I'm loving it. Is Spokane the new Brixton?

I hear a lot of different influences in this tune. The beginning reminds me of a Scorpians song from many years back called the zoo, which also used that super heavy chunky in stereo guitar rhythm, which was cool then, and is really cool right here and now. The anthem-like beat moves the song along very well, helping to make the tune really fun to listen to. What I don't get is how you can turn such quality work out so fast! It takes me at least a month to get anything done, and here you are in a few days - whew! Very nice job - thanks for the share.

yeah, some bands back in those days used muted strumming. i always liked the percussive sound of it. I was listening to the new green day album when it came out and they had a song on it that used it. so i knew it was probably cool to bring the effect of it out of hibernation.

there's something tribal and primal there. Feel like standing on my cubicle chair and pumpin my fist in the air :-) Your muse was working overtime on this to have it gel so quickly. And gel it does. Very much dig the 'chording' solo.

tribal is rock n roll
I've been getting off work early on Fridays and it's a good feeling. So, I recorded the guitars and bass that afternoon, feeling pumped up. the solo was a first take with no idea of what i really was going go with it. one of those in the moment type of things.

Reminds me of an Eddie Money song : )
"just sit around the house, get high, and watch the tube..." : ) It should have ended badly, but... the willing suspension of disbelief. : ) Young, adventurous, innocence, ignorance, and it's all fun and games until you realize too late that you didn't know that the boy knew he didn't have the money to pay for the meal you both just ate.... : )
