Lyrics
When we met so many years ago,
Neither of us knew that love would grow.
Little could we see how our love would set us free,
How our lives would soon agree.

Doesn’t it amaze you how we met?
Strangers all our lives, and all alone.
When I saw your face, my heart just raced.
In your style I saw such grace.

All I thought of then was your sweet smile.
I wanted you to know I cared.
You were much like me:
You wanted to be free.
You thought that you could be that way with me.

So we started slowly to unwind…
Sharing every story we could find.
And suddenly we knew how we could be one, not two.
How we could be me and you.

From the moment when we knew for sure
That our love would always endure,
Never did we fear, never did we doubt, my dear.
All we’d wanted was right here.

And from then ’til now such happiness
Has filled up every day, my love.
It will never end, my one and only friend,
The purpose of my life is you, love,
It’s you.

Just a love story...

Interesting that I was shopping for hip scarves yesterday at an India shop at Midtown Global Market for my four lovely daughters who are now into exotic aerobic dancing. The hip scarves were quite expensive at $22 each. Well, my eye caught stacks of DVDs on the shelf. I asked the shop owner if he had any Bollywood love story movies. Sure enough, he handed one to me called "A Love Story." Only $18. I gifted it to my son who is looking for love in all the right places.

Paul, this is beautiful. Your tender lyrics float over an exquisite soundtrack. Finish that soundtrack for me that you started, pretty please.

I want to sing your songs on stage. How can we make that happen?

Not a bad idea...
The Schletty approach to singing would probably well suit the Page approach to songwriting...

Paul, if you don't write a whole musical, per se, how 'bout a sort of cabaret show?

Rich'll have to learn to hold a lit cigarette or a martini glass, and maybe wear a London Fog, but, you know... sacrifices for art, right?

I bet it'd be a hit...

yes!
Page piano and orchestration at its best.. Add to that the amazing voice and I'm a happy man!

Really great Paul! Nice to hear you again! I would give something vital to be able to sing like this...

This
would fit nicely into a Broadway musical, in fact the writing is much better than most modern musicals that I have heard. You have a very appealing voice and your piano playing is fantastic as usual.

Beautiful work Paul
Unashamedly romantic and so well done.

The music perfectly complements the words. Restrained and poignant.

Cheers

Yer a hopeless romantic...
...'cept for the 'hopeless' part...

And listen to that diction!

Tell ya, Paul, there are people in this world who would eat your stuff up...

I was...
...thinking of you, driving back from my 2 weeks in Vermont...back to the city and the job that you've retired from...

But the music's the same...beautiful and heartfelt...inspired...on a technical note: I love the chord changes.

That's all, he says
Paul, your love songs are all so lovely. Unlike most so-called love songs we hear today, you speak of a faithful, enduring kind, where both people are happy. Thank you for posting these.
