LIOLI 9 (Interlude)

Description
A short interlude for LIOLI-weary ears...

I used the loop for everything here, and pretty much obeyed the rules (I DID change a very few percussion hits to tone down the shoegazey-ness of it all). Lots of timestretching with the loop, and one tempo change; otherwise the loop is intact.

Thanks for listening,

SJ

Very excellent way to beat the loop into submission, and create Indian Interest... Gotta Hindu to ya', this is wonderfully succinct and listenable and cohesive.

Wow
this is just awesome. Love the way you can't discernibly notice the loop in there. I now it's in there, but you've really got to study this thing hard to find it.

Aside from that, it's a very entertaining piece Jim. Ya done good man, ya done good.

Thanks, Ed
I just changed the instrument settings on the loop and stretched it here and there; that's pretty amazing that something so simple could disguise the loop so well. I can't take any credit for it, though!

Thanks very much for the kind words. It's a pretty big turnout this time (lots of submissions), and I'm grateful you stopped by.

Best wishes,

SJ

Very clever
And is that thick honey filled accented voice yours? Very unique and tasteful take on the #43 loop.

Voice
That's Ravi Shankar talking about Indian music, but I rearranged him a little so he'd sound more.... mystical. Funny, I have been listening to a lot of Ravi lately. I have to confess I have a lot of trouble grasping the structure of Indian classical music; but Ravi's exquisite daughter, Anoushka, sure makes me weak in the knees.
But that's another topic for another day.

Thank you for lending your ears Stephen!

...and this one just gets more compelling with each listen. That first part, before the tempo change, is beyond intriguing - it's like listening to shadows move across the landscape. Superb. Utterly demented, brilliant genius stuff.

Hi Bill
It's more mysterious than you think:
The intro where it sounds like mostly reverb on quiet drums and then the synth and then the 'full' drum sound is not written in the project; it's an anomaly that only happened on this bounce.... Stuff like that used to happen to me a lot in the days of analog tape (and I always dug those accidents), but it's fairly rare with digital. Especially when it works out so nicely!

Good to see you here.

Best,

SJ

I haven't been on board with the LIOLI 9 project, so I shudder to say I haven't even heard the base loop everyone is referring to. But that is no matter really, as this is a masterpiece in it's own right. Beautifully paced and wonderfully crafted.

A very different direction for this little loop, and quite nice. I know I listened to this last weekend but apparently didn't comment at the time. A fine effort.

There is only one note
love the rhythmic work and the drones and tones - along with the early vocal. Excellent imagining of an alternate loopality.

if there is only one note...
....then how can one 'return to the climax (which is the most important thing)'?? Ah, all this Eastern theology is beyond me! I appreciate the listen, and I hope your dense contribution to this LIOLI round signals more density from you in the future.....

I remain,

Traveling
Karen, it's great to see you here what ever time you make it! I know what you mean about being behind: I have been almost completely distracted by real life to the point that I've fallen hopelessly behind on developments here. That seems to be part of the ebb and flow of this place anyway. Thank you for the comment, and I will stop by your page for a visit soon.
