Description
A take on a 60's political type song. This was some music originally intended for Dynamite Van Pipe but it just didn't fit. It's a little rough but I hope you like it.

A Thousand Million
This does have that 60's political feel too it.

Your vocals sound really go on this, and of course your guitar sound is pretty "dynamite"

I like the howling vocals in the background layer too. I bet Peter Bauckham will like this tune. I do.

... you know as I read your comment it came to me that this track is influenced by Peter's music. I've been a fan of his for a long time and regularly play his stuff in the car. In fact, being compared to a great a great Macjammer is even better than being compared to a famous artiste!
Thanks Bob. Glad you like it.

I really like this one. one of your best I think.
production seems spot on.
nice melody, harmonies, back up singing, guitar raunch and loud drums.
these are the ingredients for a perfect song in my books. re: "a little rough" -- I've said it before -- Keep it that way!
downloaded!

Rough...
...hmmm seems my rough stuff has appeal. To be honest I'm struggling to see where I can smooth this one so ye, I'm going to leave it as is. Those great performers of the 60's didn't have the luxury of lossless copying and had to stop somewhere. I think we can all learn from that.
It's always cool to get props from someone who's music I admire.
Cheers.

Spot On
Sixties wash over my ears. I hear the Kinks, The Moody Blues, and of course I hear you. Great track. I must get a bigger hard drive so I can start downloading some of this great music.

Moody Blues
... interesting comparison. I think the 60's thing came about as an accident initially. Once I'd added the acousitic guitar the vibe started happening and I had to go with the psychedelic backing vox. I'm kinda proud of how this turned out.
Happy you liked it too!

First of all
this is such a good warm full sound; lovely mix. Great vocals, instruments and musicality along with excellent lyrics..... love the nice lively steady beat..... a thinking man's toe-tapper and it flows smoothly enough for me. Good one, regards M

Toe Tapper
... I like that! The warmth of the sound was not my original intention but as it deeloped I could see that a warm fuzzy 60's production was going to have a nice effect.
Thanks for the compliments man.

... probably the best compliment you can give me is to say its melodic. I'm a great believer in strong melodies. Thanks for listening and thatnks for the kind words.

Commentary
... it's a risk, doing social commentary as I'd hate to come across like Bono (or Bozo as I call him, millionaire with a conscience - pah!). In this case though it kinda happened organically and I'm happy with it. Thanks for the kind words Char, your input is always held in great store.

Not a crook
If this is rough it doesn't show.
I think this is one of the best vocal performances you've done so far and everything else fits in and gels really well together.
Really good track
cheers

thanks for the note... Bob's right - I love this tune. You've got a great guitar sound and I think this is one of your best vocals (I must admit to being seriously behind listening to stuff - got a bit bogged down and now can't catch up). The production sounds very together... and thanks for your comments too!

Great drive and energy
really cracking drum track and cool guitar production. Definite 60's vibe - and good use of sound bites. I love the overall feel of this track - very vintage tape sound.

Sixties...well yes but....
Somehow I here madness in this too... especially the verses...
Your message is is clear...and I like that. I love the 3 way combo.. politicians, priest and pimps. music is uptempo and I can see the comparisons with some the bands mentioned in the comments...

Thanks for sharing..

Rough?
Not from where I'm at. I was just going to comment on solid everything was sounding. I get an REM vibe when the solo comes in. Your vocals are really spot on in this track. Great job!

Totally agree with 5EA. This is right up his alley. This is quite a good straight forward rock tune. Really dig the drum sound and and the whole fluid movement of the instruments.

Good tune indeed

stoned, but not too stoned to alliterate
yeah I dig the 60's vibe too - it's def 60's but sounds like a look back, rather than an attempt to mimic the real deal, which lends it authenticity i think. production is great - you're really getting to be an ace in that department. guitar solo is cool too man, really dig it - laid back but cooking along. I could never pass off a political song - everybody would know i was posing, but you have some real authority - maybe its the irish/english accent, don't know, but it sounds legit. Only don't insult pimps by lumping them in with politicians and priests dude lol.

I grew up in the 70's and 80's in the south of the UK in an Irish family. I had always loved music but was never given an opportunity to explore making it for myself. About 10 years ago I bought an acoustic guitar and began strumming in earnest. To d... [see more]
