Under the Tracks- A Kitty Rock Opera

Description
This is just the kind of "off the cuff" stuff I love doing. My friend Kevin told me that his daughter Ruby had been taking guitar lessons and was now interested in writing a "Rock Opera" about 3 little kittens who wonder too far from home in the city and find shelter under the elevated train tracks of Chicago. Sounds like she has some real creative blood running through her veins! At the moment, all Ruby and Kevin have to record with is one minute clips using Windows Sound Recorder and a skinny little computer mic. Maybe that's all you really need! Ruby wrote and sang the lyrics while her dad Kevin played his acoustic guitar in two one minute clips. They gave me the clips and I was able to splice them together, double them up and offset them a little for stereo affect, then add the "dramatic" keyboards and drums for our final "Rock Opera" effect. I was told that all the noise you hear in the first part of the song is Ruby holding the lyric sheet up against the mic. I hope someday that we can maybe record a longer, cleaner version of this. It would also be nice to have Ruby's voice on a separate track so she doesn't get lost behind the guitar like she did in a few spots. I have to say it was really fun for me to hear what we started out with (one little mono sound track), and then hear it just keep growing to what it is now.
My thanks go out to Ruby and Kevin for letting me be a part of this.

You're right Feter!
I think that was exactly what was going on. The vocals and guitar are on the same (mono) track so it was kind of tough to keep either one from drowning out the other. I hope we might be able to re-record this again someday and really make it sound nice. I do appreciate you taking the time to listen.

Prime orchestration
You've turned some simple strumming into a broadway production. Very nifty.
