Lyrics
Hold to your Honour 'though all else may fail
Don't let them catch you they'll cut off your tail
Swift as a Hare you return to your tree
Even on Ground you run rings around me

But you're a menace and your vermin and you like being shot
There are people out to get you with everything they've got
So move along your Bushy Tail - Keep out of sight
Be sure to stay hidden - only come out at night

One Day in August the Farmer did come
Shotgun to shoulder he wanted some fun
Spied out young hero up in his tree
Shotgun to shoulder before he could see

All around the little vermin heard the mighty shot
Another little squirrel had get received his lot
But our valient little Warrior wasn't beaten yet
He gave that Hunter's finger a bite he'd not forget

Hold to your Honour 'though all else may fail
Don't let them catch you they'll cut off your tail
Swift as a Hare you return to your tree
Even on Ground you run rings around me

Oh hey, John,

I'm in love. I wonder if you'd let a couple of the Chick Munks cover this, after a while. I love everything but, especially, I love the jangling "banjo" and the accent and inflection of your voice. What a really nice treat for me, this early morning. I feel bright and bushy tailed now. Thanks.

Hi Paula....
Well - the greatest compliment someone can give you is to ask to cover it - so feel welcome to do so!

I think the banjo is actually an electric mandolin -(well, I suppose actually I 100% know it is :-) ) - but of course I'm very glad you like it.

I've got quite a lot of older (and newer) folky stuff knocking around - maybe i should post some more.

First, I knew I shouldn't
attempt to pick out instruments. I can't tell what the hell they are. And, sh-h-h, I'm no musician. I can't read music to save my life. Thank God I can sing when I hear a note. :)

Hi Feter - as usual you are very generous with your comments - of course I've very happy you like it!

The main guitar you can hear is an Ecko Ranger 12-String, which was so heavy, I think you could have probably felled a tree with it - the jungle is an electric mandolin we used quite a lot at the time.

Excellent!
Enjoyed tremendously. I love Celtic sound here. Because I'm partial to that. The instruments are just perfect. Thanks.

Celtic roots!

Hi Char - glad you liked the song. I recently found out that I'm 50% Irish (rather late in life) - I think in retrospect that explains a lot :-)

I have realized that though

This is a wonderful piece -- great guitar and mandolin topped with excellent vocals. Love the storytelling of the lyrics, as well. You've put a big smile on my face and some rhythm in my feet. Thank you!
