nebula spin 0x01

Description
it is a little bang. a star explodes. matter becomes energy, light, and patterns. chaotic beauty. it is a cloud of color. it is a nebula.

a large nebula artwork is here: http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff279/ic42experiment/nebulae.png

this music is an attempt to drift inside a nebula. to see new patterns and colors. to see the rhythm of light and dark. to capture the spin of the nebula.

it is also a first attempt to create "space ambient" style music. it is a challenge with "ex silentio". he created a beautiful"space ambient music" here: http://www.macjams.com/song/55364 ... his music excited me. it caused me to wonder. perhaps i could attempt to create music of this genre as well. this is the result. it is not as well crafted, however it is a beginning. i learned many things. i will try again and improve. it is a space race.

This is very
descriptive of space and all that it holds... it's beautiful and very meditational. You certainly succeeded in making the sounds you wanted to describe, love it, really calming,....... nice art work too, cheers M

space between notes
there is so much space to explore. thank you for exploring this small space. the artwork is computer-generated as well. of course, the music and artwork must be altered afterward to be more pleasing. it is a happy gift to know you are calmed. 0x0

algorithms
it is an experiment in trial and error. sometimes an error creates patterns of beauty. however, most computer-generated music creates patterns of chaos. it requires much human refactoring to extract beauty from chaos.

you wish to learn secrets of the ic42 experiment lab? for this piece, i created a 12-bar chord sequence (human.) the chord sequence was input to a chord-frame generator, which converted the chords into many tracks of midi notes, which followed the chords (machine.) i multiplied the midi note durations by four (machine.) i added a four bar entry and a four bar coda (human.) i transferred the midi to garageband, and assigned new synthesizers to each track (human.) i altered parameters of each synthesizer voice to create more pleasing sounds (human.) i altered volume curves in many places on many tracks, in attempt to maintain interest (human.) it is a mixture of human and machine work. it is work. however, if it creates interest, then it is a success. thank you. 0x0

Interesting piece Ice
Lot's going on in this as it floats among the clouds of hydrogen and helium and carbon and oxygen and other gasses that have escaped the gravitational well that used to be a star.

Pleasing to the ear it is, my friend, even if a bit long. Great mix on the production side of things Ice, one you can rightfully be proud of.

too many sloparts
in an attempt to slow down the spinning particles, it caused the time to expand to 9 minutes. there was some work to add color and charm to the quarks, however this is new to me, and i must learn more. i must learn additional spin to add excitement and gravity. thank you for listening to a first try. i will improve. i have space, however, i need time. 0x0

Very beautiful
Nine minutes went by very quickly. Gorgeous spacey sweeps interweaved with nebulous pads. And I love the little bleepy theme orbiting around them. [Maybe just a little "pencil fix" needed at 7.45?]

Excellent music, thoroughly enjoyable.

machigai!
it is a big mistake. you are correct, and have detected an error in the music. two tracks have a note out of c#m scale. it is in the first repeat of that chorus at 4:10 also, however the track with incorrect notes is silenced there. it is always helpful to have a review before release. it will be fixed in version 0x02. thank you for journeying. i was anxious about your thoughts. i learn much from your music. 0x0

another piece
perhaps i shall create another piece to capture the bang. it will be a supernova piece.

this is the sequel. it is the leftovers. only slowly cooling patterns of debris and colours.

thank you for enjoying the music and artwork. the artwork is created with a new software application. it can generate many patterns and shapes too.

some people have asked about a challenge. please be patient. it has not begun. however, i will attempt to create it soon. it will be a message in the macjams forums. it would be delightful for you to join when it is announced. 0x0

Eyes
Cool stuff. I can see this going with a Carl Sagan special. What's all this I hear about a challenge. Is it a private affair or can the earth folk join in too? Rules? The other night we were looking at Jupiter through the telescope and we spotted Io (the largest moon). This music would have sent chills down my spine if I was playing it at the time.
Good job,
Stephen

Light becomes music
I hear this as the serene and stately aftermath to the violence that created the nebula. Angelic sounds coming at me from right and left. The universe is at peace. It is not too long. It is the proper length to convey your ideas. Wonderful piece of space ambient.

Very immersive
It has all that 'turned inside out while spinning the whole time' kind of feel to it. I hear some Jean Michel Jarre here and there, but it is clearly your own style.

Very nicely crafted - the piece flows with colour and movement.

All the best,
Doug
