Lyrics
Put me in a pine box but don't you pine for me
I'm going to the great divide where the goodun's go to heaven and the bad one's go to being
Poked and prodded, dried and rotten, never to be seen
Put me in a pine box, don't you pine for me

There will be a roll call and I'm going to be number one
For the sins I've committed are so grave I'll be sitting on that pitchfork roasting in the sun
And my poor soul will have no chance of being saved
Put me in a pine box don't you pine form

Here's a message for all you folks that cram this earth so full
Do more good deeds and less bad deeds if you want to have some pull
With the One that gives the signals, way up above
Be a winner and not a loser, remember God is Love
Put me in a pine box don't you pine for me
Put me in a pine box don't you pine for me
(spoken) Friends...Ashes to ashes, dust to dust...

great post
great post!! the lyrics are well written...you come out with alot of energy. this is some real folk, grass roots for sure. i love the sound effects. it gives it a really nice quality and helps complete the illusion. cleverly done. i think you could add more during the song if you liked.

lost but not forgotten
a sweet poem and thought and tribute. My father passed away several months ago, and was originally from Montana... he would have liked this sentiment. Great singing voice, and nice guitar music, very warm.

Thanks for
posting such an emotional song.
(Your vocal would definitely benefit from a pop shield - there are some plosive moments.)
Cheers

Classic folk voice
WOW, wasnt expecting this after listening to your last song. Quite a different genre. I thought I was the only one doing that, lol. I think this song is good as is but some harmonies would sound great on here. Good job!

Great vocals on this. You need to do some harmony vocal parts. Love the harmonica!

Clever!
Nice folksy tune here, and well done. Songs about death make for interesting listening. Have you checked out my "Pass Away"? I've got another one here, too - I'll post someday soon...

Macjammers
Thanks ya all who took a listen. This song was truely a combined effort. My pa wrote the lyrics in 1950 and my brother Johnny Blues (another macjammer) recorded it on reel to reel and added the sound effects. His friend George played the harmonica and spoke the ending words (God bless his soul as he passed away several years ago).
