Description
Village Idiot is songs that tell stories. The second song I wrote, also my first collaboration here as mandolinquent with the very talented keyboard player, keishi saito, who I'm pleased to see was back here too, recently.

Very Cool!!
Didnt know what to make of this song initially. It is so shocking soundwise. The more the song went along, the more I liked it. BY the end, it was one of my favorite mj songs. Excellent job.

BTW
Faved and dl the song. Also I feel I was not as clear in my last comment as to what i meant by "shocking". It took my brain 20 seconds to get where this song was going. It almost sounded random at first to me. But I think that was part of the reason I liked it so much. Bringing order to chaos. You probably have no idea what I am talking about but I just figured I would explain it since I thinik it is one of the things that gives this song charm.

order into chaos....

Nice!
Great sounds! Love the instrumentation. Intriguing artwork. Love the mando. This has a traveling minstrel feel to it! Nostalgic!

very very very appealing
a somehow modern sound but with a very convincing sort of "merry England " feel to it. It reminded me a bit in places of the composer Charpentier - tho atually he's French. Maybe Jethro Tull would be a better comparison [ minstrel in the gallery period ]

Loved it from begining to end -vocal, harmonies, melody, instrumentation the lot.

A fave forsooth !!

nice folkiness
It works well. Is that a real upright base or is it a GB sound? Love the mando, it almost sounds like a uke in some spots. There is almost a Beatle feeling to some of the harmony. It is a bit untidy which I think really adds to the feeling.

Strange to read
what this reminds other people of, for me it was actually Simon & Gurfunkle.
Lovely song, harmonies and musicianship/production.
Cheers

Nice one William
Sorry I took this long to get here, but the penny only just dropped :)
I'd love to hear this with the lead vocal bigger in the mix. Lots of nice stuff happening and a good story as well.
Great song and great to have you back.

Everything's Gonna Be OK
Another really great story.

That tight mandolin is perfect with your somewhat loose and wandering singing style. Dreamy back up vox.

Oh yeah, that bass sound is tremendous - is it real?
