Description

Something completely different for me..nudge, nudge! One of the many magic incarnations of Skean.
A dedication: For Alan Zastrow who will always be the best friend I ever had.
Alan was one of my Art Students. He took Painting, Drawing and Calligraphy when I taught those at the Air Force Academy Art Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He died of a heart attack at the age of 37. I miss him every day of my life. I love you, Alan. I hope this posting of one of your paintings makes you smile.

Skean is an absolute
sweetheart. This is his music and his production. I have no idea why he thought to ask me to write for and sing to this. We could have tweaked it. I can hear places where I could sing differently, but..we, together didn't want to beat it to death. So, here it is. If you don't like it, it is all my fault. Thank you Skean. Nice to have something up, after 2 months of being crippled by a stodgy PC. I Love you, guy. Thanks!!

And yes I had it little hard to choice as you give me 3 takes, I know I could had cut a past between them, to tell you the true I did a test but I did not like it so I go back to this and used some effects on 2 voice tracks EQ it and here it is, and as we said in our mails, we do it for fun we are not pros.

Hahhahhah! Skean is a lot easier to get along with than just about anybody else. Very relaxed. Must be the beer. I think it was good. Words came easily, as usual. My arm hurts from patting myself on the back. It was nice of Skean to think of me. Thank you, Draki. I never would have been recording any thing if you hadn't told me about having to have Audacity. Was that lame of me to mention that? You have been my great friend. I owe you. Thanks. :)

Skean asked. I found words. I tried a few times. We both agreed it wasn't worth obsessing about. Alan was great. If I said I need help, he was there. Been gone for awhile now. I miss his crazy cards at Christmas. I never got to say goodbye. So, I am very happy you liked his painting. I taught him everything he knew ..at least that which he needed me for: technique, mostly. He already had vision. Thanks. :)

I guess I won't ask you to re-master my latest song. Well, you will learn, whether intentionally or not. Maybe you're just being modest. Oh lord. You are funny and this is a fun tune. Skean was a good choice for a collab. On the flip side, not too fun when I read the dedication. I don't know how to respond to the ambiguity. Impressive artwork, also.

	honest to be honest this isnt my kind of music at all, but i'm sure someone else will love it. the track itself is cool, but i think the effect on the vocals lets the song down, i would say either remove it or do a clean recording of the vocals with maybe a little reverb or slight echo added. We get to pick our friends. I've always been blessed witrh good friends. Alan taught me that doing for someone you love was an act of love. And he made me feel protected and cared for. All I did for him was open my home and let him eat my chocolate chip cookies. We used to laugh oue asses off. He's been gone since the summer of 2001.

How nice
of you "guys" to stop in. Rather new direction for me. I keep thinking I could sing this better. Even though I wrote the lyrics, I still hadn't really learned the song. Skean and I both would like to see a further version done by anyone who would like to add to this. Then, I'd try a slightly different take. It is a very bouncy dance track and Skean is a master of these energy filled songs. He's a happy guy. And that is infectious. Thanks for giving it a listen. :)

Wow!
The wild patterns of musical mayhem have the force of a sonic firehose. I love the energy between the upbeat pulse of Kenta's music and the darker tone of the lyrics; that dichotomy creates a very strong pull that just entrances.

Kenta's stuff just amazes me - and your voice with his studio wizardry puts me in mind of Sarah Brightman. Just incredible stuff.

Challenging piece/peace.
This is some serious avant-dance, and I've become so died-in-the-wool myopic in my musical choices that I have to admit some trouble finding the beat and your vocal treatment accessible. HOWEVER I am commenting this because I want to stretch my perceptions a bit.

In your voice I'm getting a ind of alternating between facing the listener in a postmodern dialog (third person plural lines), and doing some more direct, cathartic and on-pitch emoting to the second person subject of the lyrics. There's a challenge to me here in that alternation. There's also a seriously turgid beat here, and your vox-trem weaves nicely with that crazy-driven beat.

In all this tension, we find the challenge of aggressive art. And in that art I find your honoring Alan with some acceptance amid questions that might never give you rest. PLEASE FORGIVE ME if I have overstepped in my attempt to come to terms with this intense piece.

Dyed in the wool..
and myopic mean unwilling to see beyond the usual. Your listening and your analysis show me you are neither of those two things. Skean sent his music fully realized. I am not a musician. I wrote something that came to me and I sang it as best I could, using a melody that ran alongside the existing music. I relied on Skean to let me know if it was acceptable. To my surprise, he liked it. I thought of Al's painting as being abstract, like Skean's music but also figurative and subjective like my lyrics and feelings. I asked him about that and he approved. The more I have listened the better I like this. I have to thank Skean for his gift of this song. Thank you so very much for stopping in and staying to hear the whole thing, even though it is unusual. There is nothing to forgive. I am grateful. :)
