Description
This is another song I wrote based on a poem written by my father. These lyrics are very typical of his political sense of humor. I happen to agree strongly with him on this point. We, as a country are so polarized by our two party system. The fact is that most of us are really in the middle of the political spectrum.

A book can be open or closed,
like a mind can be for or opposed.
While a closed book has nothing to say,
a closed mind isn't limited in that way.
It's amazing to me how verbose it can be
when so little it says it correct.
But give the devil his due, though his facts are few
he can shout with fanatic effect.
Some people see things black and white,
everything is wrong or everything is right.
What happened to all the colors in between,
Like shadows of grey and blue and yellow or green?
You look at our nation and see moderation
is very much needed today.
Consider each side before you decide
just what it is you wanted to say
I think it's best if the far right and far left
would agree to move over a little
Give people like me the room to be free
and enjoy the space in the middle.
