They Will Never Rest Until They Have Spoiled the Earth

Description
This is my first submission. I'm still getting the hang of Garage Band so it may not sound as polished as I'd like it to. I wrote this a few months back and finished it over the summer. It's got a bit of a happy/feel-good summer vibe to it. Key of D major and mostly in standard 4/4 time with some odd timed transitions here and there. It's all keys and synths because I don't have anything to record guitars with. I actually like how a lot of it sounds without guitar. Enjoy!

Actually quite nice
At first I thought it sounded a bit too midi-ish, but it grows on you as the relentless synth solos take over from each other. The title is very good and fitting for the song somehow. (Unfortunately I think you may be right too...) The mix is good but could probably be even better. I think most people would bring up the drums a little in the mix, and you just might get a fuller or more dynamic sound by doubling some tracks and space them out a bit right and left, perhaps adding a bit more reverb here and there as well. (Mind I'm no real expert, just echoing stuff I learnt on this site ;-)

And yeah, welcome to MacJams! I think you will like it here. Try to be active by commenting on peoples songs, chatting and in forum activities and people will find you and give you better advice than mine :-)

Take care.

its a genuine writing and I like how you built
your song over keys and pianos only ...nice
drum pattern as well ...as your other song
the volume is too low try to fix this soon my
friend ..ye I would think a guitar would be so
supporting ..but you are so good with keys
and piano ...so maybe this fulls it all ...
thnx alot for sharin !!!!

Mix
Thanks for the kind words guys. I tried responding to your individual comments but it's not showing up. I think that I've worked out the volume issue but now I need to get it so that it doesn't clip haha.

@Henke - I'm working on getting the mix better right now. I've brought up the drums and doubled the tracks - it definitely makes it sound fuller. Thanks for the advice.

@Feter - I can't wait to add guitar to this track!

They Will Never Rest....
Driving beats move the song along quite nicely. Many variations of the main chord progression capture and hold the listener's interest. Do you have a keyboard you're using as a midi controller, or are you using the GB "pencil" to write all those parts? Nice job overall

midi
For the majority of the song I tab it out in Guitar Pro and then export it to midi. I then take that and arrange it in GB and work out the details. I've got a louder remixed version that I did last night that I'll be posting later. One of these days I'll get a midi controller but for now I just use Guitar Pro.

Another
Great Song. I like the length of this song and the way it flows - the transitions are great. A real pleasant, vibrant, energetic song. I might need this one in a month or two to bring me out of a Seattle Fog.

I'm a college student at UW-Whitewater. Ironically, I'm an English major and yet all my music is instrumental. I write everything on guitar and since I don't have any recording software MIDI plays everything for me. I write all the drums and throw in... [see more]
