Description
My boys like it when I make silly sounds, and the first take of this was all silly vocals that I ended up playing guitar over. The guitar parts remain the same but I re-recorded the "vocals" to be a little less silly for public consumption.

I know it's a success because my little guy just asked to hear it again!

Thanks!
Glad you like it Feter, and I'm especially pleased you thought the mix was decent. I'm really trying to put some effort into that. Got some good advice my last post and it seems to be working out!

This rocks. Who needs lyrics, indeed? Really expressive singing. Loved the guitar especially-- the acoustic. Cool track!

Good rhythm
This is brilliant but nice riffs. I think this could become a good vocal song too. Look forward to the full version. I also like the photo you used for this track. Cheers / Mike

Vocals
I guess it has potential for some real vocals but then the philosophy of the song would change for me. I'm guessing this is as full a version of the song as it's going to get. But if you look through my catalogue this is a pretty full song in comparison!

Thanks for listening and sharing your thoughts.

Thanks Morning Light. I'm a little in the background in that one, but that's pretty much the way it should be with those little all-stars in the picture with me!

I miss...
I miss my boys at that age. I had a ball with them growing up too. They are now 23 and 20 and out on their own. I really liked this one as well. The kids still have good ears!

Growing Up
Glad you liked it and thanks for the listen and comments.

They grow up in a flash. My oldest just started kindergarten and it seems like he just joined us (though I can barely remember life without him).

Check out the "Parents!" thread, it'll likely bring a tear to your eye.

Love it
Nice clear mix! Great. You sound a bit like the guy from Jethro Tull in this - it's got that folk rock vibe going on. Very nice little piece! Maybe you'll hit the classic three minute mark with the next one...

Folk Rock
How hardcore are you?! Maybe there is some folkie in me, but I don't here CSNY trying to pull this off!

Whatever the genre, my thing this trip through was discipline to the beat and clarity in the mix. No where near a 100% in either but better than usual I hope, so thanks for noticing.

Okay...music made by dads...
...for and with and inspired by their kids is going to get my vote even if it's flawed or loose or rough...

But this is freakin' awesome, Pete... My own son is off with the Boy Scouts on an island in Boston Harbor, but you can bet that I'll run this by him the minute he's back...

Very tight, very free, very fun.... I love your vocals on this, which are really tightly doubled, and then doubled again with the electric... I totally love the acoustic playing, too, especially right at the end....

Of course, I don't know whether to put the mp3 in my 'MacJams Instrumentals' or my 'MacJams Vocal' playlists....

GREAT photo, too....

Ed

Inside track
Aha! I`ll be sure to work the kid angle for automatic praise from now on! And I hope your son had a great weekend on the island. I used to have a blast in the Scouts when I was a young one myself.

Thanks for throwing out the very kind words in the forums today, it made my day to read them.

And not to be greedy but I miss your insights as to how to improve for the next time. Any opinions on what to do differently next time?

music as it is MEANT to be
from the heart to the child in us all. And the fact that you can whip up some killer riffs to sing along with, and sing so nicely with them, all the better... this is a perfect Sunday morning feel-good song, thanks! That was great! Play it again!

I know the spot you are referring to, as I thought the same thing after I had it completed.

That's fine, I'm sure they made silly sounds for their young braves as well!
