Description
This is a song I wrote and recorded with my old band Union Label. I am posting it now because we have a gig this coming Thursday, Sept 24th at Sally O'Briens Bar & Grill 335 Somerville Ave, Somerville MA, reuniting with my old pals Matt Leblanc, Jeff Allison and John Rapoza to play a bunch of our old favorites. This was produced by Matt Tahaney at Q Division studios, and I play lead electric and acoustic guitars and sing lead, Jeff plays drums and percussion, Matt plays rhythm electric, John plays bass and everybody sings.

Lyrics
In the moment it seemed so sharp
life is too short to wonder why
It all hits you a little hard
You catch your breath with a little cry
But I don’t want to go without you
But I don’t want to go without you

The give and take starts to wear me down
I start to wonder when it’ll be my turn
eventually you’ll come around
If it were’t for the friction it wouldn’t burn
and I don’t want to go without you
and I don’t want to go without you
and I don’t want to go without you
and I don’t want to go without you
Bridge: if this fruit seems more than
slightly bruised
from all this tumbling
down and down and down
I’ve gotten used to
gettin’ used
I come to see what
comes around comes around
I’ve always wanted to make a statement
What the hell I gotta speak my mind
And you’ve shown me the words I meant
though we don’t agree at times
and I don’t want to go without you
and I don’t want to go without you

Great song Jim
Very good production, as would be expected out of a pro studio. You and you mate had a really good band back then. It'll be good to get back together for a reprise performance.

Very cool track my friend.

i love your voice in this one, so full of character. this reminds me of a time when rock was a little janglier, and there were bands like the wire train and translator playing. sounds great.

Travellin Bouchards
was gonna say this has a Traveling Willburys sound but must say this is more classic JBouchard and would be glad to see Union Label live any time... hmmm, lets see if Southwest Airlines goes there.

what a great sound. The guitars just meld into the track. Straight ahead rocker with a killer break. Best of luck with the reunion gig. My sister is coming to visit and she gets in later that night otherwise...I'd be "yelling freebird"

is that a pic of you playin keys or pedal steel :-)

keys
That's me playing keys. I double on guitar and keys in this band. Their standards for keyboard skills are remarkably low!
Thanks for the comment.

man, great vocals. nice combination of reedy and gritty. great local bar sound, combination of springsteen and goo goo dolls and dire straits. really, really like the break and the harmonies.

Solid
...rock tune. Songwriting takes great left turns. I especially like the minor verse and major chorus. Dig the vocal and the tight band arrangement. Bit of a 60's vibe in the bridge, which I love.

I have been playing music a long time. When I was growing up my brothers had a band called the Regal Tones which was quite popular in our little town in upstate New York State. They got bitten by the music bug and later went on to found the p... [see more]
