Description:
Noogle is a piece when I looked at the audio waves in the audio editor in GarageBand, it looked like tons of little sound waves similar to what Google is now producing only in information form. If you havn't heard, they have a new on-the-fly search engine that looks like Tiger's new search tool is going to be but only for the general public on Google!!

Plus, I just read that they are going to be doing complete libraries. Wow!

So any way, I think I did this solo with a lot of notes. I hope it gives the impression that notes are flying by and that is the way the new Google (Newgle) is going to be or should I say already is. Information flying by quickly, very quickly!

It is called the "Google Suggest Beta Tool" . I just heard about this morning through a tec email newsletter.

***IMAGINE THIS!!:Tons of people all over the world really cooking on Google with the new "on the fly" search tool.

First you see one person searching for important stuff, then wham, you see two, three, four, five, six etc. madly typing away. Then out of no were you see hundreds, thousands typing on their (macs) computers searching on "Newgle" above your screen, below the lower portion of your screen then off to the side going all over the place in beat with the music and in relation to the notes. A lot of the fast stuff is notes coming out of the search field right below the editor field. But think of all the people using it and all those searches performing their each individual miracles.

Then at the end it goes back to the first guy and he is really happy with his find. He found the exact info he was seeking!!!!!! Thus the harmonic at the end! Bam!
Can you envision the long wavering slide at the end producing a readout of tons of information?
Can you see the short slides midway spewing information very very quickly?
You may have a total different vision of it but these things come up in my imagination.

Thus the phrase: Noogle

I displayed a tile mosaic job I did which is the closest representation to the many tiles in mosaics to tons of information processing in Google.

Information overload? &mdash 12/20/04 - 09:35:05 PM
Yes, lots of notes flying at me with this piece, but you
wrangle them well. Comparable to search engine
technology? Maybe. I understand what you're driving at
regarding the information freeway. This piece sounds a lot
like Leo Kottke. I saw him perform at the Benedicta Arts
Center in St. Joseph, MN back in the early 70's. Held my
future wife's hand there. We've been in concert ever since.
At the time, I compared Kottke's rush of notes to the
hyperactive butterflies in my stomach.

...Joe Pass' great playing and sound.

Your description, as well as the track itself, sounds just a
wee bit "caffeinated"! Perfect for the story you described.

I wish that I had even a *TINY* bit of your prolific (and
high quality!) output here on MacJams. Everything you've
submitted here in a short time has been a joy to listen to.

This track conjures up images of a hobo ridin the rails,
watching the scenery flash by through the open boxcar
door.

Great ending!

Maybe so, I am trying to capture a little bit of something else in the piece. I
know that train thing is very hard to loose with the open C type tuning when
play past in that keyy..

I know that the last shake of the brass slide at the end really does sound to
me like a readout of the Google search engine. But ya have to listen close!
But maybe my ears are stubborn.

Thanks for the input.

Stories between the tunes &mdash 12/28/04 - 03:00:29 PM
Yes, Leo Kottke. I remember seeing him in a little
Rattskeller in Oshkosh WI before he got famous, and then
again in a huge hall in Milwaukee a few years later. He
would tell great stories before each song, too, to give his
arm and fingers a rest, he worked so hard while playing. I
can image you rubbing you forearm after this one too!
Excellent.

That settles it after hearing so much about Leo's guitar I am finally going to
have to buy one of his albums or if Itunes has a great selection of his tunes
buy some.

Thanks

Thanks for the comment. I think I'll have to buy some of his music. Seems like
there are a lot of people that really enjoy his music.
