Description
Started off as a big noisy guitar jam called with the working title Monster Git. Then I sent the guitars to Audacity for reversing and other effects and came back to GB where I found a stretch I liked and looped it. Tossed out the drums and bass that was originally there and found an ambient sound effect in GB loops to use for rhythm. That's what you here at the beginning. That was last week.

Today I read the forum post about What's wrong with loops? - and tonight I finished this off with a healthy dose of manipulated loops from various sources. To hear what I hear in this piece I suggest that you loop the entire song and let it play for about 30 minutes.

Good entry for the Space Race
Great sci-fi vibe there.

I don't think I'd go so far as to loop it for 30 minutes, though. *grin*

Fav'd.

Cheers,
Jim

Now
BUD - what an intriguing, bizarro, fascinating sound! it makes me feel a little paranoid - is somebody following me? why are you looking at me like that? seriously - VERY cool - you're overflowing with imagination!

Hey Karen
Just because you're paranoid - doesn't mean someone isn't following you. I was getting the same feeling so I just worked through it for about two hours and posted straight away. Hence the title.

I meant to reply to your second post
"really strange - did I mention that?" and accidentally deleted it. They shouldn't give me that kind of power - it's dangerous.
Thanks for the props - you know a thing or two about strange.

Not playing for 30 minutes...
...or I'd go nuts. Although I probably already am. This would be appropriate for a soundtrack for a horror or a dark sci-fi film.

What a trip my man.

Just grasping for straws
I refuse to give up on something even if it rots - which the original did. This rots just a bit less. Thanks.

How about 8 hours?
My brain is set on "corrosian factor"... You're messing with me, right? Oh, I could just write a loopy flute line above the abyss. Would that help? Probably...not. You're scaring me, Bud. (But you knew that, I'll bet.) ... Always a pleasure to hear what you come up with.
Peace.

I wouldn't mess with you Paul
I like you too much. I just have a broad interpretation of what might be considered music. While I was working on this I just let it play pretty continuously for about two or three hours tryig out this and that till I couldn't take it anymore.

This is very wrong
In the best ways. Like a dirty joke. There's a subtle rhythm that really pushes this bad boy along.

I'd listen to this for 30 minutes. I'm on my second listen so that's 6 or 7 already. I challenged a guy at work to listen to Freebird on repeat for the whole day... he did it and it drove him bonkers. But this makes you the good bonkers... not the Skynyrd bonkers.

bud said 54 days ago (September 28th, 2009)
There's a line in there that is looped
12 bars against the rest which are basically 4-8-or16. Don't know if that adds up to anything but it affected the rhythmic cycle in a subtle way. I can drive my wife crazy by humming the Wallace and Grommit theme.

Set the controls...
...for the heart of the loop...

Amazing how a repeating loop or set of loops can set the mind to hearing all different things as it goes along...

Absolutely right Ed
I've been fascinated by that effect since I was a kid. I love repetition in the way that your mind adds changes that don't really exist as it accumulates familiarity with the sound creating some sort of mental feedback or modulation. Thanks for checking in.
