Description
Here's a themeless, fairly stripped down proggy bit of melodrama for you, featuring Ye Olde Tyme Radio Voice, Porcupine Tree rhythm, minor chuggage, some drumming, ambient interludes, Infant Reggie (I'm not joking) setting on the Zebra 2 soft synth, echoey guitar, cowbell (yes!), sub bass, and chanting. Not trying to copy Gavin Harrison's (PT drummer) playing. He's too good. But he's an inspiration for some of this in any case.

As always, comments, critiques, criticisms, and complaints are welcomed.

Hey DA
It's always nice to have a new listener. I know this kind of thing is not for everybody. My taste has been warped by the years. The sea cucumbers were, sadly, given their marching orders. Thanks for listening and commenting. You are rabbitwhole? Or is it rabittwhole? Ah....

Heaven and Hell
Hi Reg. Cooking tune mate. Lots of space in this ambient rock piece, another download, thanks for that. Always a real delight your tunes, this has that subversive feel to it. You have held back on that guitar but that is fine by me. Attention to detail again is your trade mark.

Sir Steve
A bit subversive, yes. I made this starting from the drums and bass, then synths, then guitar, then samples, then title. The ambient space was needed to segue to the choir part. Funny how things work out sometimes. I could have gone on forever, but decided against it. Guitar is a bit restrained, yes. I kinda like it that way for this one. And thanks for commenting on the details. Appreciated.

Really well constructed
I love this. Everything about it is choice. Great production. You always have great percussion, but this tune knocks me out! Love the space in between synth parts. Great flow to it all. The cowbell was very tasteful. Its tough to work a cowbell in... I try it once in a while..

More Cowbell!
Good stuff - I'm a big fan of The Porcupine Tree. Your drumming is excellent. Infant reggie is indeed an up-and-comer. Great guitar and synth work. Amazed once again. Keep it up.

Fellow PT fans unite!
It's PT influenced, but a mere shadow of course. Infant Reggie came along at an opportune time. I would have added a lot more cowbell, but the contract was very specific. I couldn't really afford any more. Thanks, Johnny.

Killer track again
You sure know your handicraft, Sir! Enjoyed a lot.

I am reading a book of short stories by Stephen S Donaldson (the one with Thomas Covenant). For some reason I could hear this piece as a soundtrack to the title story, Daughter of Regals. Mucho action on a high level but moving smoothly between various moods and settings within a short period of time. In short: Cool story and cool song.

Thanks!

in control
this may seem a little dark with the ominous intro and all, but to me it seems that you are well in control both musically and whatever forces we may call 'dark'. I like that you don't indulge in a destructive theme and keep the energy high introducing the various elements with very intuitive timing. Excellent use of synths to add some space and air to the mix, guitar and drums (drums are recorded?!) are rock solid. Not usually listening to this genre, but there's a lot of musicianship behind this. Easy to appreciate. Maybe loses a tiny bit of focus around 3:20 (muted guitar or faint synth element to carry on the pulse?) but picks up quickly towards the end. I like how the cow bell takes over the part of the synth pattern from the beginning. And like you say, just the right lenght - really well structured too.

Another thoughtful comment
You are on list of top commenters, Parichayaka. You always provide me with insight. Yes, I understand about the destructive theme. I think it was probably a mistake, all things considered. The focus part, well that was a quick decision, probably not as thought out as it might have been. I had wanted to let the whole thing collapse into something approaching nothingness, then rebuild it. But I decided to keep the length down, so bits of it sound rushed, and not fully fleshed out. Anyway, thanks for the nice comments.

Love the drums
As usual, your guitar work is stellar. The synths on this are cool too. Love the guitar break toward the end and the bass on that part is really snappy.
Great job,
Stephen

I like the prog + chug combination... porcupine tree are awesome.
amazing what you achieved with the addictive drums. great riff at 4:50, guitar solo also wicked.
finally, I like your proud incorporation of your air conditioner... this is no doubt the perfect solution to today's digitally sterile recordings...
enjoyed much!

Commercial Workout
Works for me as a high powered video game theme, or perhaps a Sci-fi film score, space is used economically. I like how the composition seems to wait, take it's time and then saunter onto the next vista.
The root movement is progressive and supports all the proceedings. Don't want to overlook the reverb usage, so pleasant not to have to suffer through guitar star reverb on the lines...
Thanks for the cool stuff to listen to...
