Description
Looking through my old Reel to reels, I’d thought I’d found everything of use to me and also that I’d only written one song previous to arriving here at MJ (There’s no Tomorrow).
As I came to the end of those tapes I heard what remained of another song I’d once worked on and it was in a terrible state since it was literally at the very end of the tape and all creased through constant use. I could hardly hear parts of it and the background hiss, crackles and hum literally covered over a lot of the song. I had originally used a Hammond Rhtythm Unit and I tried to make a ‘loop’ from what was on the tape, but it was too distorted and parts of the lyrics were indiscernible.
I liked the song, though it was typical of the time (early 70’s) so I got as close as I could to the sound of the beat in the original by using GB drum loops and the vocoder setting on the bongos. I filled in lyrics where there were some missing and the result is this song, which I’ve been working on. It’s turned out to be Latin as opposed to the original ‘POP’ song, probably due to the Spanish midi guitar and the bongos I’ve added. Hope you like it; though it is a retro sound…. despite my still persistent ‘croaky’ vocal.

Lyrics
Two of a Kind
Although we know it, we never show it, ‘cause we’re two of kind
We love each other, there’ll be no other, ‘cause we’re two of a kind
Can you visualise, looking into someone else’s eyes?
I think that we are much too wise,
To throw away this lovely thing, that seems to make each day like spring,
This is our secret, so let us keep it, ‘cause we’re two of a kind,
Your hand in my hand, walkin’ in Loveland, yes we’re two of a kind,
We both realize, what’s the cause of all our sighs,
I think we’re oh, so very wise,
To see each day’s a new surprise, and know there’ll never be “good-bye”,
Instrumental
Can you visualize, looking into someone else’s eyes?
I think that we are much too wise,
To throw away this lovely thing, that seems to make each day like spring.
Like me, you know it, we never show it, ‘cause we’re two of a kind,
We love each other, there’ll be no other, ‘cause we’re two of a kind,
As we go through life, I’m your man and you’re my wife,
Cause we’re two of a kind.
Yes we’re two of a kind, yes we’re two of a kind, yes we’re …. two of a kind.

to be the first to comment on this!! This is very classy work. Clear, Warm, and Rich. Your vocal work fits the song and mood of the music.
Instant classic as I see it!!(I wish i had old reel to reel and find a gem like this)
Love your work as always!!
