Description
We're just a cheap day return away from fame and fortune.

Another song from The Celebrity Torture stable. A little ditty about fame written by Mr Hobbs and myself.

Big big thanks to Anne and Martyn for lending their inestimable talents to this and a very big thank you to James Ryce http://www.jamesryce.com/ a very fine singer from the Zoom Home Recording Forum http://zoomforum.us/ for the lead vocal.

And thanks to Len Gold as he suggested I contact Anne in the first place when I said I was trying for an Andrews Sisters sound :-)

I'm just lucky they agreed to work with me. Little did they know what they were letting themselves in for ;-)

Seriously, they did a wonderful jod despite me getting the voices out of sync more than once.

Thanks Damien.

Top Drawer!!!
Everything about this is quite wonderful: excellent (and clear) vocal lead, background vocals so sweet -- Whooo whooo .... nice, guitar leads are well-placed and beautifully played, and the cookin' accompaniment so perfectly mixed as it rises up and fades at appropriate places. How you got all the elements of this together just blows me away, Dick. Congratulations to you and all involved. (Oh, and cute picture.)
Peace.

woo hoo choo choo
dick - i just love the energy behind this one. james does a splendid job delivering a delicious vocal full of color and passion. the bass knocks me OUT, and the guitar positively blazes at the break. that touch of violin was absolutely diVINE! i loved being part of this - anytime you need a woah woah from me, you've got it. 8) anne

Funny, I've just been thinking about doing a train song (after 5 days on the things in Europe). Can't beat Anne for "woah woah" sounds. This moves very nicely, and James' vocal sounds great - nice subtle guitar solo Dick ;)
Very cool rhythm section too.
Great post.

Swing music is alive
This is so fun to hear that it's easy to overlook all the inspired artistic choices made in every bar that make this such a solid song. I can only imagine long hours in the recording, arranging and mixing to bring this one about.

Lovely work and kudos to all!

Rockabilly Cool
Man, where you in the Stray Cats??? This is cooler than cooler. Great song, nice lyrics, but those poor celebritys.... just kill them and get them over it.

did you see X factor last night (ha ha)?

Hi Steve
Thanks for stopping by! Still a lot of celebrities to kill I'm afraid.

No, I didn't see the X Factor on Saturday. I did see the results show on Sunday though. What amazes me is just how uninteresting the performers are. Mostly quite talented singers but haven't we heard it all before? Identikit comes to mind.

Thanks for the comments
