Big Bang Theory - Halloween 2009 Challenge

Description

We all have our theories about how the Universe started, and I have my own about how and why the "Big Bang", that some say started it all, happened. So I thought that this year, for Halloween, I would forward my theory and see what you might think about it. If you can prove me wrong, then by all mean please do so. But if not, then..…...

This is short radio play, but then again maybe not. Aside from the various sound bites for color and effect, much of what you hear, after the big bang, are actual recordings of radio frequency noise created by, Jupiter, Jupiter's moon Ganymede, Saturn's bow shock as recorded by the Cassini spacecraft as well as lightning picked up from Saturn, the sound of the termination shock wave as Voyager broke through the terminator for our Solar System, and the wailing created by the Leonid meteor shower here on Earth.

All of these are the natural sounds picked up on various radio frequencies, either on the ground or by the different spacecraft cruising through our solar system.

There is also some music playing and along with the music are the sounds of space and some sound effect to enhance the feeling of being there.

You are clearly way too well versed in sci fi shows and movies. How do you have left over time to compose?

Like the radio sounds of Jupiter and Saturn. Takes me back to my days in amateur astronomy. And just when it starts to sound somewhat scientific - then you get into WKRP and theme songs...

Actually Doug, I wasn't "ON" anything,
and there in lies the problem. I was off my meds when I did this, and the voices were starting to become very loud and confusing in my head. I listen to them and 8 out of 10 times, they say "Don't shoot". I've often thought to ask them, why not, but I never have, yet.

You'll be happy to know, I'm back on my meds, and I feel "MUCH BETTER NOW".

Hey. This is so much fun. Maybe WE are living that few moments before the BIG BANG...or whatever number of BIG BANGs we are on now. It's all bound to happen again, that is if Newton was correct in his calculations. It's only a matter of time and then we get to start all over again. That that suggest "hope" or "despair"? And does it matter? (Well, you got all of us to think...and you probably got around the royalty-grabbers by quoting only a couple seconds of all these bits...Man, how long did it take you to do this...Love the mellow jazz piano at the end. Perfect.)

Well Paul,
I figure since they have no idea what caused the "Big Bang", I'd offer up some food for thought and see if I can get a rise out of the scientific community. If not, then maybe a laugh out of the musicians here at MacJams.

I already had most of the sound bites in my sound effects library so that wasn't a problem. The hard part is figuring out the story line while you search trough the sound bites. I have them categorized which helps, but you still have to listen to the ones you think might fit in and decide if it works or not.

I guess I worked on this about 2, maybe 3 weeks was all, and that was in my spare time. It's a lot of fun figuring out this stuff.

Thanks for checking this one out Dick, it's my little Halloween treat for all the MacJammers.

It took maybe 3 weeks tops in my spare time to get it done, and was a lot of fun figuring it all out. I've got a pretty extensive sound effects library I've built up over the years, so that made it easier.

Glad you got a laugh out of it Dick, thanks for the great comments.

Well, it is after all, a Halloween spook show
it's supposed to scare the hell out of you, and keep you honest for the next full year.

But I'll tell ya Sheila those years keep going by faster and faster, the older I get. When you get to be my age it gets really scary, don't ya know.

The Outhouse of Life is actually a time machine, sort of like "The Doctor's" Tardis, only more utilitarian in nature. Helps to keep one from getting to full of them self, if you get my drift.
