When the Red Red Robin

Description
I decided to do two approaches to this old song. The first is with a slow, ironic interpretation and that leads into the second, cheerful more traditional interpretation. I was thinking that the singer thought she had lost her love forever and was desperately trying to tell herself that it would all be okay. Then, suddenly, in he walks and it's as if her entire world has suddenly become 10 shades brighter.

Just playing around with an old song and my ukulele

The image is a watercolor I did of a photo I found on the web. I'm trying to teach myself to paint.

Lyrics
When the red, red robin comes bob, bob bobbin' along, along,
There'll be no more sobbing
when he starts throbbing
His own sweet song.

Wake up, wake up, you sleepy head,
Get up, get up, get out of bed,
Cheer up, cheer up the sun is red,
Live, love, laugh and be happy.

What if I've been blue,
Now I'm walking through fields of flowers,
Rain may glisten, but I still listen for hours and hours.

I'm just a kid again,
doing what I did again,
singing a song,

When the red, red robin comes bob, bob bobbin'
When the red, red robin comes bob, bob bobbin'
When the red, red robin comes bob, bob bobbin' along.

Thank you, Joe! I've been practicing the uke and attending the local ukulele club. Quite a good incentive because I want to be able to play along with all of the songs, including the tough ones.

the definitive version?

I think yes. This is a song for an upcoming movie... yet to be made. Hear and believe it. This one has legs. Bravo dear girl.

Aw, thank you, Jack! That would be quite something, wouldn't it? But not impossible -- someone heard my song "Smooth As Silk" here on Macjams and put it in the soundtrack to his movie. It's an indy film and will be shown at the Sundance Film festival. One never knows what might happen.

Enjoyed
Especially because one of my daughter's name is Robin and I kid her in some of my emails. Fun things like, here comes Robin and she's bob bobbing a along. Especially good when she just comes over and she's walking through the door etc. This has a lot of nice character feeling in it. Your really good at this type of thing. Love the cuteness of this !

Thank you, Bill -- be sure to give Robin my best. She won't know why I'm sending her a greeting. Just tell her I was bob bob bobbing along and thought about her.

Love this performance
And the duality of the interpretations. But most of all your vocal-you take the listener a fair number of places in a short amount of time, and I found it (cuteness aside) emotionally direct and compelling.
