Description
I was attempting to record a folky version of a song I had previously uploaded here. Things started fine enough with acoustic guitar, banjo, and simple percussion, but then more and more layers were piled on and here's the result. I am really happy with this version but I'm not so sure it's folk anymore.
I took some inspiration from Mark Knopfler for the end solo, here.
Banjo, percussion, and additional guitar were performed by Paul Smith. Thanks, Paul!
The original version can be heard here:

Lyrics
She got all she wanted,
He got almost all he needed,
You were staying home tonight.
Tattoos, birthmarks and cheap perfume,
It's something he keeps from you,
Still, it's not something he feels guilty about.
He's gone the long way home,
Hoping you won't wait up any longer,
The streets are icy cold tonight.
Tattoos, birthmarks and cheap perfume,
It's something he keeps from you,
Still, it's not something he feels guilty about,
Because it's something he feels you've justified,
But you don't ask so won't hear any lies.
He wakes you opening the front door,
But still you pretend that you're fast asleep,
You hear his humming through the walls,
The bedroom fills with hallway light,
And now his clumsy kisses goodnight,
His fingers sliding down your neck.
Now he's had all he wanted,
And you've got almost all you need,
Except a man who stays home at night.
He got almost all he needed,
You were staying home tonight.
Tattoos, birthmarks and cheap perfume,
It's something he keeps from you,
Still, it's not something he feels guilty about.
He's gone the long way home,
