Walk In The Road

Description
sometimes you must walk in the road

somehow i wondered if there might be spiritual overtones in this. not sure. this song occurred to me after listening to Knopfler's album "Get Lucky" a few times.

except for the drum loops, it's all my own material. at first i thought a vocal melody would evolve out of this, but it never jelled. i suppose an oboe is not a standard instrument in this genre whatever it is. maybe not a flute either.

Great tune!
I'd say prog blues, but that isn't a choice. *wink*

Walk
Well I hear the blues but not blues at all in the classic sense, so yeh, progressive blues sounds good. At about 1:30 you end up in a progression that is really cool. The organ is what gives it that southern Sunday church service touch, and it fits nicely into the framework of this piece. Then you fade off with that really cool progression again. Very nice.

I enjoyed this! - thanks for the share -

you're amazing Bill! maybe oboe and flute aren't standard in R&B, but they sure sound great here! take a walk on the non-standard wild side i say! i always appreciate your exceptional musicianship - thanks!

This is
syncopated, I think. It is a happy organ and a delighted oboe having some grins and giggles. Fun, Smokey. Thanks.

Blues oboe?
Could be the next musical craze! I actually think the instrumentation is very mutually complimentary--although the organ is my favorite. Nice job!

Has a gospel feel to me
maybe that's where the spiritual vibe is coming from. I could hear Jevetta Steele singing on this. Nice work Bill.

Walk In The Road
Unconventional instrumentation works really well here.
Like the way you switch from major to minor, then back to major again. Minor part reminds me of Allman Brothers.
Every instrument is sitting nicely in the mix, and you are getting a big sound.
Nice job!

Eclectic, at best. I learned some music theory at school, and read a ton about it since. I've listened to lots of music over the years. I once played guitar in an actual garage band and actually got paid to play! Once. Although live performance is an... [see more]
