Description
OK, I admit it--I'm on a recording binge--sorry to inflict another upload on you all so soon after the last one. But I can't help it--I'm inspired by all the great songs and compositions I've been hearing over the past few days on this site.

"Rock Creek Park" is a song I wrote earlier this year. It came into my head fairly fully formed one weekend afternoon as I was walking alone through (as the name suggests) Rock Creek Park, the huge wooded park that bisects Northwest Washington, DC. I wasn't totally sure what it was about at first. But as I drove back home, I heard on the radio that prosecutors in DC were seeking to indite a man for the killing of Chandra Levy, the Congressional intern who disappeared in that same stretch of park a few years back. So that helped me understand the song a little better...

I'm trying not to overthink arrangements, but I don't want this to be boring or obvious--let me know what you think of the e-orchestration. Thanks for listening!

Lyrics
Sunshine-y day
Feeling down
Cold winter leaves
On the ground

Happy couple
With two dogs and two lattes
Smile right at them
So they think that I’m OK

Looking for my missing spark
By myself in
Rock Creek Park

Ten yards ahead
Past the bridge
Trail sign says
“Western Ridge”

They don’t have maple trees
Like this in Modesto
One more thing for me to
Do before I go

Carve my name
Into the bark
“I was here in
Rock Creek Park”

Oh, Gary
Oh, Luis
When will I
Find some peace?

The sun it goes
Behind a cloud
I can feel my heart
Beating loud

Will he visit me
Back in the home district?
I know he wants to
But his schedule is so strict

First the shadow
Then the dark
All alone
In Rock Creek Park

Oh, Gary
Oh, Luis
When will I
Find some peace?

Sunshine-y day
Feeling down
Cold winter leaves
On the ground

E-Orchestration
I think you accomplished your goal, not overdone to the point where it is distracting, but its also not boring or obvious

Rock Creek
Very nice tune - not being a particularly hardcore folk fan, the only reference I can come up with is Simon and Garfunkel, which this tune makes me think of. But you did a good job with your production - everything is crystal clear - nice job - thanks for the share!

So, so, Pleased
that I listened to this, it's beautiful and touching; full of sincerity; not just the song, but your beautiful voice (love that vibrato) and your wonderful vocal expression..... and your guitar accompaniment as well as the tastefully sparse choir. The lyrics too are wonderful. So pleased that you 'foisted' this on us all here LOL. I'm surely a fan of yours now, regards M

great texture and performance
I love the organ here and the vocal sounds fantastic, especially the higher notes. for me, the heart of this songs is the guitar and vox, I would bury the organ and the orchestration even a little more.
That said, you've created a fantastic mood here.

Gorgeous vocal melody
Nice folk fingerpicking and singing here. This kinda reminds me of John Denver in style. (at least for this song). I would definitely suggest some harmonies in here. WOuld really help to give it some oomph. Enjoyed it!

Hello Michael
My first visit to your page - first things first I love your very distinctive and natural sounding voice. The song itself is thoughtful touching and well written, it is also nicely produced with lovely clear mix. Excellent work and certainly a fave. I heard it said once by someone here on Mac Jams that lots of people have good ideas but it is the developement of these ideas which is where the skill lays - you have done this well in this field..
