OK, I admit it--I'm on a recording binge--sorry to inflict another upload on you all so soon after the last one. But I can't help it--I'm inspired by all the great songs and compositions I've been hearing over the past few days on this site.
"Rock Creek Park" is a song I wrote earlier this year. It came into my head fairly fully formed one weekend afternoon as I was walking alone through (as the name suggests) Rock Creek Park, the huge wooded park that bisects Northwest Washington, DC. I wasn't totally sure what it was about at first. But as I drove back home, I heard on the radio that prosecutors in DC were seeking to indite a man for the killing of Chandra Levy, the Congressional intern who disappeared in that same stretch of park a few years back. So that helped me understand the song a little better...
I'm trying not to overthink arrangements, but I don't want this to be boring or obvious--let me know what you think of the e-orchestration. Thanks for listening!

Lyrics
Sunshine-y day
Feeling down
Cold winter leaves
On the ground
Happy couple
With two dogs and two lattes
Smile right at them
So they think that I’m OK
Looking for my missing spark
By myself in
Rock Creek Park
Ten yards ahead
Past the bridge
Trail sign says
“Western Ridge”
They don’t have maple trees
Like this in Modesto
One more thing for me to
Do before I go
Carve my name
Into the bark
“I was here in
Rock Creek Park”
Oh, Gary
Oh, Luis
When will I
Find some peace?
The sun it goes
Behind a cloud
I can feel my heart
Beating loud
Will he visit me
Back in the home district?
I know he wants to
But his schedule is so strict
First the shadow
Then the dark
All alone
In Rock Creek Park
Oh, Gary
Oh, Luis
When will I
Find some peace?
Sunshine-y day
Feeling down
Cold winter leaves
On the ground
