I haven't been around for a few months, but finally got inspired by way of Paroxetine and also with some new gear I got recently. After trying a few all in one type effects pedals i've been leaning towards getting quality individual pedals and am demoing a bunch of stuff from my local guitar store.

In the mix is: Digitech Hardwire Delay/Loop, DOD Flanger, Seymour Duncan Twin Tube, Digitech Whammy, Ernie Ball Volume Pedal, MXR Phase 90, MXR Super Comp, MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay, Way Huge Swollen Pickle Fuzz Pedal, all routed into my firewire input controller.

Played with a Fender Strat.

CHECK YOUR VOLUME. There's a little clipping, and there is a lot of treble.

pedals
those pedals were from a local guitar store managers private collection, i've been in his shop looking at pedals all month, so he offered me a deal, about 1/3 of the original purchase. haven't decided if I should keep them yet, i don't know if I would use the compressor or the flanger, but i like the rest of the stuff.

Very Nice
What kind of pedals are the compressor and the flanger? I've been looking for a flanger and a decent compressor. 1/3 off the original purchase price is pretty good!

whoops
i meand the compresser and the phaser, they are both MXR. Check in with me in a couple weeks. If i end up buying the package I could make you a deal on those two pedals if you want.

effects
The guitar processors works really well with this song. I thought the end could be a little cleaner, maybe slow down the fade on the very last note. But all in all a good piece.

Delicious Guitar Goodness
...absolutely love the ride; you're doing wondrous psycho-sizzle stuff with those toys. Time to lay back, put the volume up somewhere beyond "Evacuate The City" and watch the landscape melt.

Thats what I am talking about
Space funk!
The new gear must be working out 4 you. The groove is a good backing for this work.

thanks
yep that groove was simple, I just used ez drummer to play one of the hip-hop loops thru it. The bass line is actually one take all the way thru. I just couldn't find a good place to stop and loop, so I just had to keep on playing. fun tho.

Clearly Distortion
Sounds like a new direction for you Brian?
Those are the standards on the floor. I use two of those S comps myself-one to push and one to pull...
Looking forward to hearing you work them out...

clearly
I thought it would be good to record the first take to see what happens on discovery of new toys, this is actually take number 3 or 4, but still... fresh toys. The s-comps I couldn't figure out. I used it on the backing rhythm guitar, but not on the lead guitar, hopefully i'll get it yet. thanks for dropping by.

Have no idea what an scomp is
but it sounds good, lol. Love the ethereal lead tone. how did you get that crazy high pitched guitar sound... so cool. Sounds great. I would fatten up the bass a tad but that is nit picking. Great job.
Elevator_Funk said 24 days ago (October 31st, 2009)
hi
an s-comp is 'super-compression' supposedly keeps the loudness of your guitar within a selected range so your not too quiet yet don't blow out someones eardrums. i haven't figured it out yet. the crazy squeals are from the Digitech Whammy, it allows you to change the pitch up to 2 octaves, among other things. thanks for dropping by.

I'd love to do one of these sometime....
It just sounds like fun, playing with all those pedals and, more than the pedals, the sounds they make...

How do you like the Swollen Pickle? Some folks seem to love it, and I've never heard one or played one....

You should produce the 'Mike Oldfield/Tubular Bells' version of this, with an announcer voiceover, saying what we're hearing...

Well, except that, apart from this tune as exploration of gear, it really does sound cool as music.... A very neat listen...

thanks ed.
I almost did that, but I did make a youtube video of it. The Swollen Pickle is awesome. I tried every pedal in the store before I walked out with this one. It has the widest variety of sounds out of every pedal and sounds amazing.

listenable
thanks, I was hoping it would be listenable. in fact I tried to play in "E" most of the time so it would stick to some sort of theme. I'm glad it came across that way. thanks for dropping in.
