Lyrics
I used to be the reindeer at the front of the line
Pulling Santa's sleigh, sitting on Cloud nine
But then along came Rudolph and put me in this spot
With that big red nose, he really thinks he's hot !.

Well my name's Dasher, so appreciate,
that I was one of the original eight
in the Night Before Christmas, the story of Santa Claus
Now we got ol' Rudy - he's always flappin' his jaws! (yes he is)

(guitar solo)

I'm startin' to think maybe me and the boys
shoulda left him stranded on the island of misfit
toys, then maybe he would learn
If you play with fire, you know you're gonna get burned!

So if you see a reindeer with a big red nose
that lights up so bright it really glows
just think of me and what I have to endure
but I just bought a new guitar, I think I'll go on tour!

(guitar solo and outro)

Christmas Doors
I love the keys. And the guitar solo. Everything is a little off, which makes it even more authentic. The vocals sounds like 60's right off, in fact the whole song does.

No artificial ingredients
Even the drum loops were sampled from a real drummer. And the amps were real amps (even though they were practice amps).

I tend to be a stickler for authenticity, so that was quite a compliment. Thanks!

Cheers,
Jim

Dasher's Blues
What a refreshing antidote to Rudolph! Why does it always have to be about him? Enjoyed the authentic 60's vibe, well sung and played.

You're right.
It does seem that every Christmas song about reindeer is about Rudolph, unless it's about all of them as a group.

I think I do recall a movie about Prancer, though. *wink*

Jim

Christmas is coming
and so are Santa and the reindeer. I can see Dasher having the blues, getting pushed out by that young upstart. Probably doesn't even have a union card, I'll wager.

Nice song Jim, although it could use a remix on the vocals, they're a bit to low in the mix to me.

Still, it's nice to hear you singing one, and from what I can hear you did a great job of it.

Thanks for sharing my friend.

Yes, it is!
Just thought I'd get a few out there before Black Friday so I can make a CD for some of my friends and relatives to hand out at Thanksgiving. *wink*

Sorry, but that was as far as I could push the vocals without it sounding like a thunderstorm. I don't record vocals very often and I don't have a baffle. Next time I may make one out of a bed sheet or something. *wink*

Cheers,
Jim

Great departure (on ice, no less!)
If you were a little drunk(we?!>) and a touch angry, this cold be a great Cramps-style sendup--that might sound awful, but it'd never match the depths of crapitude Bob Dylan has reached with his new Xmas album!

This is reat holiday fun, it'll be a great departure from teh humdrm straight-up traditional.

LOL!
That's exactly the kind of feel I was going for, and the song may be somewhat autobiographical as well, even though I'm not the type to let jealousy take over my thinking. *wink*

I was going for something not as nasty as Rodney Carrington or 2 Live Crew, but grittier than your usual Christmas fare. Maybe something along the lines of the Arrogant Worms. (Hey, Worm dudes, if you want this for your next Christmas album, you're welcome to it. Just be sure you credit me on it and send me a free copy of the CD. *grin*)

Cheers,
Jim

Rocking Dasher!
Love it! I just wish I could hear the vocals a bit more - a little too much reverb, perhaps? Still, GREAT track, and definately one to add to the Chrimbo playlist!
