Description
By 1993, the group The Chickmunks had reached the heights of international superstardom. While touring in Asia, where they were particularly popular, Paula Munk met martial arts superstar Jackie Chan, who, in a stroke of genius, proposed that they join forces and co-star in the martial arts extravaganza titled Enter The Weasel.
The Plot
Enter The Weasel concerns an orphaned chickmunk, Pao La, who is raised by Shaolin monks. While there she becomes expert in weasel style Munk Fu. Her master is killed mysteriously and she is forced to leave the Monastery and strike out her own. On her journey she meets Jackie (Chan), a drunken bum who is down on his luck and homeless. The two join forces and help each other--she with his drinking problem and he with her investigation into her master's death. Their detective work yields clues which lead them to a local crime boss who is involved in a heroin smuggling ring. It seems they have been filling weasel statues produced at the monastery with heroin to be shipped abroad. Pao La learns that her master was murdered because he discovered the criminal activity and was going to inform the police. Pao La and Jackie must bring down the crime boss responsible for her master's murder and smash the heroin smuggling ring.
Behind The Scenes
While making the film, Chan and Paula began a torrid affair, which ended after the film wrapped and Paula returned to the States. In a later interview, Chan lamented the breakup, saying he missed how Paula used to climb him like a tree and try to hide his nuts. After Enter The Weasel was released, it quickly went on to achieve cult status among fans of the genre. Chan later approached Paula to star in a followup film, but she declined, realizing it was only a pretext for Chan to woo her back to him.
The Soundtrack
Paula, who co-produced, decided she wanted a particular sound for the film. She first approached musichead (Steve Anderson) and me, maxruehl (Andy Denning), and guided us in getting just the feel she desired for the soundtrack. Realizing there weren't enough Andys on the project, I brought onboard awigze (Andy Wigzell), because we knew we needed some hot sax licks to give the score that little something extra.
We now present to you, for the first time anywhere, the rare End Title for Enter The Weasel.
Credits
Drums/Bass: musichead
Sax: awigze
Assorted other instruments: maxruehl
Executive Producer: Paula Munk
