Description
It's come to that time of year in Japan, when people feel a need for hot food from a van. Round my way that means ishi yakimo or sweet potatoes cooked by hot stones. The bloke selling them advertises through the medium of a very loud song. This is my tribute to the git.
Computer probs solved, bought an iMac.

Lyrics
Yakimo Ishi Yakimo.
500 yen seems quite a lot, I mean, that's more than two pound fifty for a stone-baked sweet potato. Let's sing its song.
Yakimo Ishi Yakimo.
Driving about in a van.
On top of his van is a megaphone. He's begging you to buy, oh so loud, his stone-baked sweet potatoes. Let's sing his song.
Yakimo Ishi Yakimo.

Tasty
You're well on your way to a album of songs about food and drink. I wanna suggest "Appetites" as a title. I like your original style and quirky vision. Keep 'em comin'!

i bet you do well in japan. you've got a japanese inner child. love the "driving about in a van" refrain. hilarious and uber cool at the same time. love the bridge with the tambourine and crunchy guitar that precedes it too. also dig the organ sounds. you're keeping me interested in MJ these days thanks for the DL dude.

Sounds
a lot better than the Ice-Cream vans around these parts. Nice clean sound and 'warm' sounding instruments, .... like your voice, but I'm trying to think who you sound like with that accent. cheers M

I'll take
one of those - but must have loads of butter squelching through it. Don't s'pose they do that there?
Great song and arrangement - your vocal mix is always spot on.Enjoyed this catchy song.
Downloaded. Thanks.

sweet potatoes
Hey this is very catchy. Like the chugging guitar doing the eigths. Really interesting "reverse" sounding sample at the beginning, is one of several flavors you have mixed in. Nice phrasing and intonation on the vocal. Great job overall.

Ah so
Yakimo, i remember a little old man used to deliver to our village, you could here him coming from miles away. I thought you might have included a bit of the Yakimo song?
Cool tune.

Good, short nonfiction.
This is a brilliant little river rock, smooth edges and all. Reminds me of the stories my mother (now 83) tells of the street vendors in the Bronx with their push-carts, yelling "yip-yip potatoes! at the tenement apartment dwellers, when she was a little kid. Thanks for a great slice of life.

How do you do it Ste? Well, no matter...as long as you KEEP doing it.

Very enjoyable, this. Engaging rhythm track. Nice vocal delivery. Cool tuneage indeed!

I'm jealous
because you can make a great, catchy tune out of the most random stuff. It's such a signature sound, too. The guitar sound is immediately identifiable and your beats are very ste. Love it.

oh yeah!
those syncopated organ riffs are wicked.
and the lyrics of course.
we don't have sweet potato vans where I live, and it sounds delicious... so I would definitely shell out the yen.
great song!!!

Sweet Pototo
I always wondered what the sweet potato's song sounded like, thanks for that! This is classic STE style. You have a signature style that is not mistakable for any others. Interesting mix of Japanese language and British pop sounds. I am hungry...
