Description
Drylands Road is the address of my analyst. for those of you who are, or who have been in analysis, the line "in august you just disappear" may resonate. i mean seriously....where do they go in August? Mine won't tell me. i've thought about stalking him....but that isn't altogether healthy....is it.

Lyrics
I’m down on a sofa, I’m down in my world,
Don’t know just how far I can fall
You’re over my shoulder – you’re grey and you’re older
Don’t know if you get me at all
You want to explore things that happened before
And I’m trying to get what you say
Alluding to trust, your words turn into dust
In that moment I’ve drifted away

God knows where we’re going to
God knows what’s in store for you

Know nothing about you, the life that surrounds you
In august you just disappear
You talk of transference a natural occurrence
All I know is I want you here.
We talk about feelings that I’m not revealing
That hinder and clog up my day
The notion is fleeting and time keeps on beating
You smile then you send me away

God knows where we’re going to
God knows what’s in store for you

I just want to belong forever and all along
And there’s no end to the session
I want to be over there, wanna be self-aware ,
And join in the procession
Are you my Freudian obsession?
can’t put up with this pain, won’t you tell me I’m sane
then it’s the end of the session
it don’t make any sense when you sit on the fence
Are you my Freudian obsession?

Voice you've got and this song with it's excellent lyric,s sounds so good.... nice guitar accompaniment too... sort of has a light jazz feel to this and very pleasant to listen to, despite the subject matter of the lyrics.... enjoyed this, regards M

So nice...
and moving tune!
Congrats on a very good one!
Sounds like a mix of Al Stewart and Marc Cohn, which is a BIG compliment in my book. :o)

Well done, all around
Excellent guitar work, and beautifully written lyrics, the rhythm and flow and meanings just click right into place. Your singing voice is nice and exudes the right kind of smooth-but-clingy emotion for this track.
Good stuff! Oh, and I look forward to meeting up with Macaudion next weekend, small world! :-)

Really jazzy verse contrasted by a catchy melody in the chorus. The guitar sounds great. I saw in your first post you weren't excited by the guitar you were using, but I think it sounds fantastic. What do you use to record it?

Hey Julian!
Welcome to mj. To me, the self is a bottomless pit. But this song is not. Honest and open songwriting presented in a naked and straightforward style that suits the material. Very well done.

Very analytical
I met one of mine at a party once... I'm not sure who was more awkward.

This is great. A really nice laid back feel and the "chorus" vocals work really well.

Good tone on the guitar and clean playing.

Cheers

i know what you mean
i reckon it's because they deliberately distance themselves from us so that when we bump into them, even though we have loads of deep history with them....we can't physically get close to them.

Therapy?
just thought I'd check out your other stuff.
Nice one.
Really well played, thoughtful and (occasionally) witty lyrics.
I like the way it all comes together.
I think the analyists all go and see another analyst in August and get a chance to talk about their problems.
They don't want to talk to you about 'their' problems or they'd have to pay YOU ;-)
Good song
Enjoyed

lol
My therapist decided to break tradition and usually disappears in October, but I understand the sentiments here exactly. Love the high register you're singing in, especially those harmonies. How do you do the percussion for your songs? I really like it - always understated and not intrusive to the vocals and guitars, which are, rightly so, the focus of your songs. While I love the songs where you've played with effects and electronics, I'm such a sucker for a sweet-voiced tenor and his guitar. Another great one.
