One For Me Very pretty guitar. This is a sad one...a spanish beauty with tears falling down her cheeks...her lover riding away on a beautiful stallion...a little child holding her hand, and a blue tic coon hound lying by her feet with a forlorn expression. What a beautiful melody sprung straight from the heart it would seem. I really like the production here. Nothing too fancy - but everything in the right place. Thanks for posting. Check out my latest song called hi fi lo fi

mmm this is great Bill. The melody is fabulous; you do so much experimentation, that sometimes I forget you write great melodies too. The sound is really nice, I like the slight hiss that is behind the guitars. That main melody would be great on the Midnight Cowboy soundtrack. What an ending. Great job. . but, this IS an experiment. my process this time was to loop the chords and melody on piano, with the chord names labeled on the screen - scrolling by as they went. i recorded the guitar in one pass, doing something like 20 repeats. edited afterwards. it was so refreshing to NOT have to keep the chords in mind while improvising. there they were on the computer screen the whole time. i felt so free. the downside is the computer was running and adding noise to the recording... thanks Check out my latest song called Amalgam

that is a great idea. there is a feature in Logic where you can break up the arrangement and then put notes. i should try your idea out, although with my grasp of music theory it really wouldn't make much of a difference. :) Check out my latest song called Summertime

Laid back and relaxed kind of vibe--really nicely conceived and executed! I appreciate the "nothing extra" arrangement; the strings, when they come in, are a really nice warming texture. Check out my latest song called Till the Tap Runs Dry (album version)

inspired song There was this dusty road that lead into Juarez no one walked on it but you and me. We were in love with ourselves and couldnt believe the happiness that we had found. So what if this road leads into the desert and circles the dusty mountains on the horizon of El Paso. Peace comes to the circling hawk. The sun is setting and this love is fading now a sad place for you and me. Check out my latest song called Summer Sizzle (T4S)

One For Me Nice chord progression, and the picked melody is cool. I like the way you mic'ed the guitars, you can hear the pick dragging across the strings really clearly. I'm seeing the cowboy riding into the sunset. Check out my latest song called Change (jdholliday, scofugate, Jeff Sawyer)

. i placed the mic about 4 inches from the bridge of the guitar. i wanted to capture the picking and strumming sounds. i also wanted to close mic it to avoid picking up the computer too much. i usually record with the computer off, but i was trying something different his time (see above). i set the chords in a key (A minor) that is dead easy for me to play. guess i'm lazy... thank you Check out my latest song called Amalgam

. i don't often pick up the guitar any more. i find the preciseness of computer sequencing suits my interests in composition much better. but once in a while, i break down and go for that real, organic feel... thanks check out http://macjams.com/song/42580 Check out my latest song called Amalgam

Multitracks and acoustic guitar... There's one of my favorite pastimes.... It's nice hearing this in the headphones, BIll... The different strum patterns sort of wash over each other, with the occasional picked lead bits in the middle... Neat... Ed Check out my latest song called Uno/I Like The Way... . the various strumming patterns happened due to pure improvisation followed by cutting and pasting until it sounded nice (to me anyway). there are some goofy gaffes in there. the sync piano track unintentionally snuck in during the beginning for example. thanks Check out my latest song called Amalgam

Love the opening bar or two in particular Bill. Nice melody crying out for some vocalising - in Spanish would work well (as would Andy's words). The hiss is a little bit of a problem which you could probably sort out without much effort, but it doesn't really take away from the music. Cool post. N Check out my latest song called NO RELIEF IN SIGHT

| SmokeyVW said 290 days ago (November 22nd, 2009) | |

. i almost fired up audacity to clean up that hiss. but then i thought two things: it would take away some of the nice high end strumming and squeaky finger sliding sounds, and it would take us one step further away from the raw emotion that i tried to capture. so, i left it as is. thanks at times i wish i had a real studio, and real equipment. at least i'm in love with the guitar. Not Mexico but Scotland Don't know why but the image that came to mind was a fishing boat setting out on a warm summer evening from a Scottish Loch heading for the fishing grounds. Golden evening sunlight playing across the water and reflecting in the faces of the fishermen. probably not what you had in mind! Lovely playing, cheers Mark Check out my latest song called Preying On My Mind
