Description:
This started out as simple voice and acoustic guitar. I play guitar and my friend sings. Then I played around with midi piano and bass. There is also some very soft midi percussion that comes in the second half of the song.

Lyrics:
I have a friend who thinks that everyone's an end.
The means hold no meaning for him.
I walk the random lines running through my cluttered mind.
To try and find the quiet within.

But like a skipping stone on a glassy pond or the melody of a sad song,
I rise and fall from the grace of knowing you.
Now leaves dot the ground, giving autumn a fragile sound.
I know the winter snow is coming soon.

*Chorus*
Why do these songs always turn out so sad? It's as if that was all I had to say.
I try to change the beat, turn bitter into sweet, but they all turn out the same.

I thought I'd found my fire, when I was caught up in desire - the dissillusioned soul wanders on. The notes that fall like rain help to ease the pain - the comfort of a sad song.

I have a friend who knows that everyone's an end. It's comforting to know it can be done.
I cannot sit still, the memories lie up in the hills, so I follow the road under the autumn sun.

*Chorus*
Why do these songs always turn out so sad? It's as if that was all I had to say.
I try to change the beat, turn bitter into sweet, but they all turn out the same.

Why do these songs always turn out so sad? It's as if that was all I had to say.
I try to change the beat, but it never sounds complete, and they all turn out the same.

Nicely done &mdash 12/21/04 - 12:15:14 PM
I really like the chorus/bridge. Good job. Your voice matches the tone of the song perfectly. 8-7-8-8

Excellent Song &mdash 12/21/04 - 12:48:30 PM
I really, really liked this song. Great guitar sound. Your vocals work with this perfectly...though I think that's been pointed out already.

loved your tune &mdash 12/21/04 - 02:36:00 PM
It does sound like a couple other songs I know, but it
is so effortlessly done that I don't mind... it feels true
and not like a rip off. I especially liked the accent
piano.

pleasing &mdash 12/21/04 - 03:47:55 PM
Very pleasing vocals and excellent guitar playing!

I like the quality of your voice, especially in the lower
ranges -- a good "earthiness".

The phrase "giving Autumn a fragile sound" with the
triplet-figures is a nice change, a good touch.

Your guitar playing at the end was tasty. Good track!

Like the lyrics man...and the simple guitar...nice solo too.
Good voice and a great melody....almost "Fountains of
Wayne-ish" with a little "Cake" in there too....(thats
good!)...Well done, post more!

Hooked &mdash 12/28/04 - 03:21:26 PM
Really nice flow, happy song that I was grooving to, love
the acoustic sound and understated vocals. But then the
cool guitar solo came in and I was totally hooked. (Could
have had an even longer solo in the middle! But you went
on longer at the end, thanks.) Your use of simple guitar,
piano, bass works, builds, moves along. Very nice easy
tune. Really liked it. (Would like to have the lyrics posted
too.)

You can play at my house any time. Such a sweet tune. Like twins jamming in the dorm. Really nice.

Thank you all for the comments, they're helpful and
encouraging. I'm trying to add the lyrics but am
having a bit of trouble getting it to work, and I'm
going to submit a couple more songs as soon as I
can.
