You captured some of that
Benson vibe. Very nice. It gets me moving and smiling... a good combination. I like GB a lot also. Reminds of my time living on my sailboat just breezin' along.

This is very well done. Tight, precise, and light in touch. Which is very Benson-like. Kudos sir.

Dude, you've nailed Benson! That's a very cool jam. I saw George Benson live at Red Rocks CO; it was so cool the way he plays guitar, sings and plays a tamboreen with his foot, all simultaneously. It was crazy!

Instruments
It is a combination of both midi and real, the melody guitar is a software instrument triggered by my Yamaha midi guitar. The bass is live, the drums are triggered by my Yamaha DD-55 drum pads. The rhythm guitar is my electric guitar play through my Yamaha amp. The pianos are from my big full 88 Yamaha keyboard. I use midi instrument, it allows me to bring to life a song much quicker! Nevertheless it is all me . . .

Good Ear!

Thanks for your comments, as you know I played this with the MIDI guitar, this allows for a quicker production and the ability to correct problems without setup and tear down. Anthony's Fish Grotto!
Wonderful place for dinner! I am just north of Temecula and enjoy the bay. My wife's favorite place there is Ruth's Chris Steak House, no deck though. Talented? Well if you listen closely to my songs, they are nearly all in the same key. I know about 8 guitar licks, and all my solos are about a measure to a measure and a 1/2 long. Drums and Bass are special to me, they are the Foundation of the song. Thanks for our kind comment . . .

I don't have to imagine
that much to get the summery feel of this - just back from the pool and it's hot and sultry as I listen.
I used to be a big George Benson fan, and this has reminded me that I should go and have a listen to some of my old vinyl.
I like the bass lines you've used here - very rhythmic but also interesting at the same time.
Light and well played - very enjoyable.

Doesn't George Benson play those big jazz guitars? You're capturing the style, but the guitar sound is a bit thin for a good jazz guitar. (It's a fun exercise to set Logic up so that you get your guitar lines in two parallel octaves. Instant Benson, or Wes Montgomery. Try it!)

Fun tune. Sunset and drinks with umbrellas.

Benson
The guitar is a Gibson 335 hollow body, awesome guitar.
I chose the classical guitar patch so as to not make this a clone.
But I am going to try your Logic tip. What I used in the song is thirds and fifths, more like Earl Klugh. I thank you for the tip!

First Steve thanks for the nice comments on my latest tunes - much appreciated. This tune is nice -cool jazz all the way. I am impressed with your musicianship - and your mix which sounds great in the headphones, by the way. I can't draw any GB correlation as I am not a big fan of his music, but this sounds great - touch of latin - nice touch. I have a few friends who live up in your neck of the woods (rather desert!). Now I have another reason to travel up there. Thank you for sharing your music, and nice meeting you, neighbor!

Magic
Great job capturing that george benson sound. But I have to admit the the midi guitars aren't doing it for me. They sound like pianos. When I play guitar on they keyboard i do the same thing. You got to remember keyboard playing and guitar play are two different styles. can't always do chord stabs, flourishes really give the illusion that the guitar is authentic. Beside that thing. I thought the whole arrangement was top notch. I really love benson so you had me sold from the beginning. Awesome!

MIDI Guitar
Excellent ear my friend, to bring the project to life quicker I use some MIDI instruments. There are a few places in the song I play some chords that would be impossible to play on guitar, a piano would play root-third-fifth, and guitar because of tuning third-fifth-root (or first inversion.) The songs I post are for entertainment purpose, nevertheless I do go back and correct any problems I notice and other artist suggest. Thanks for your taking note of what most have miss.

You almost have the sound location nailed, its influenced by the Puerto Rican band I played in for five years, Cuban too. My aunt was a well known Night Club singer in a Cuban band in NYC, and studied under her for six years. And of course the Steel Drums are the Caribbean connection.
